12 Week Update

12 Week Update

I sort of feel like I’ve been holding my breath for the 12 week mark.  While I know there are always things that can happen, everyone sort of marks 12 weeks as a good milestone. Not only should I be (according to my friends and my pregnancy apps) regaining some energy soon….but lots of risks decrease now that we’ve made it to 12 weeks.

My boss Becky had given me these cute belly stickers as a gift after our first appointment. The pack has 8, 12, 16, etc. in it, so this was the first one I got to use! While I don’t have much of a baby bump to show (though tell that to my pants that won’t button!), it’s fun to track it. I know in a couple months I’ll be showing strong.

This week, baby is the size of an apricot, a toy soldier, a hamster, or my favorite this week: a macaron.

How far along? 12 Weeks

Total weight gain: 4-5ish pounds? I’m still eating salty foods all the time- it’s mostly all I want…so it goes up and down.

Maternity clothes? A lot less regular clothing in the pants department. If it’s not stretchy, I’m not wearing it. Broke out some maxi skirts, palazzo pants, and leggings this week.

Sleep: I’m sleeping a bit better. Essential oils are helping. Currently waking most nights 1-2 times a night to pee. I try to stop drinking at like 7 pm so I don’t have to pee too much.

Best moment this week: Using our fetal doppler to hear the heart beat!

Miss anything? We were out to eat and I would have normally treated myself to a cocktail…but I got a mocktail instead. I also miss soft cheeses. I know those are things that will be there when this is over, so it’s not too bad. But when we were out eating, I wanted a burger with blue cheese…but that’s not happening right now.

Movement: Nope. Too early for that.

Food cravings: Still lots of tart things. A coworker is making lemon oreo balls this week and I CANNOT wait for those. I also want orange pineapple juice just about every morning. And I’ve been eating those plastic tube popsicles. I had some left over from last summer. I was under the impression they only sold them during the summer…and when I ate my last one I posted on Facebook asking if anyone had seem them out yet.  Thankfully, my aunt said they are always at Walmart under the Capri Suns! YES! I bought another pack and will be indulging one little plastic tube at a time.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Getting too hot. I’ve found when I’m getting ready I can overheat and feel sick. Thankfully, still no actually getting sick. The air freshener in the bathroom at work can sometimes be gaggingly strong, so I often have to get in and get out fast without breathing too much.

Gender: We will find out in 4 weeks! I’m planning a gender reveal party for some family and friends and couldn’t be more excited!

Symptoms: Same as last week: Bending over is a bit uncomfy. I can tell there’s an extra organ there.

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time: Had a pretty great week.  Been in a pretty great mood.

Looking forward to: Tyler cleaning out the office and moving the guest room stuff over to clear out a bedroom. Hopefully that will happen soonish.
