I can not believe we are here at her half birthday! This last month has seemed so transformative for learning and growing!
She weighs 16 lbs, 4 oz. and is 26 inches long. She’s still 50th percentile for weight, and is now 75th percentile for height! She is still wearing size 2 diapers and 3-6/6 month clothing usually. We’ve moved up to the 6-9 sleepers so they aren’t too fitted during nighttime. However, shoes are officially an issue. Her feet are narrow and tiny. The only shoes that really fit are the custom ones I’ve ordered on Etsy. I did find a pair of TOMS sandals that have a bunch of velcro straps that I can make work….but that’s about it. She has a TON of cute shoes, but I feel like we are gonna be waiting a while to wear them. The shoes have to have velcro so I can make them fit her little feet.
She was eating 4 tablespoons of cereal at a time and has started solids the week she turned 6 months. She’s done all the different kids of cereal – oatmeal, rice, wheat and multigrain. She also has had some Mum Mums, which she eats like a champ. Her favorite thing is feeding herself and then sucking on the wet washcloth after a meal. We’ve started solids and she’s had sweet potatoes, peas (her fave!), blueberries and bananas (not a huge fan). She eats five or six 4-5 ounce bottles a day. She also will drink water from her straw cup during meals (it helps, um, her “system” work well to add in some water). She took right to the straw cup quickly the first time we gave it to her. We will work on sippy cups a bit once she can maneuver them. I don’t want her to use a sippy a ton, but I know they will give them at church and stuff…so she needs to know what to do with them.
She’s started rolling both ways, but thankfully, she hasn’t rolled and gotten stuck in her sleep yet. She prefers sleeping on her side or tummy now (like her mama).
She is sitting up assisted, but I prefer her to be either in her playnest or in between our legs so she can safely wobble.
She LOVES when mama sings to her. Baby Bumblebee and Wheels on the Bus are her current faves.
She’s been going to bed around 7:30 every night, and she will sleep until about 6:30-7. She has slept through the night several nights, but most nights she’s up a time or two. She’s moved out of the Merlin suit (just in time to start rolling) and is now sleeping in a Zippadee Zip sleep suit. Essential oils at night really help her settle quickly. We diffuse Valor II from Young Living or Nighty Night from Plant Therapy.
She’s had some days of teething trouble (pretty certain), but no teeth popping through yet. We’ve tried an amber teething necklace and Frankincense oil on her gums, and both seem to help.
She is loving bath time now that she can sit up and have the water a little deeper. We can wash her hair in the bath again – that doesn’t make her mad anymore.
Her nicknames include: Roo, Roo Bear, Bunny, RG Lee.
She still loves outside – walks, swinging, even just going on rides. Get this girl out of the house!
She is so close to sitting up in high chairs at restaurants, and she had her first ride sitting up in a buggie at Target! Getting so BIG.
Her favorite toys are her bell rattle, the train, Beat Belle, and her pony. She loves her jumper or jumping on our laps. This kid loves physical play.
Remington, your dada and I are so in love with you. We are so proud of every new thing you learn and discover. You bring us so much joy and laughter. I can’t believe you’re half a year old! But I’m not sad. I’m excited for all of the things we will learn together and all of the adventures you will have! We love you more than you’ll ever know!
