There are so many things this time of year that I adore.
Of course the time with friends and family are great. While so many of us say that we wish this was the feeling year-round, I sort of like how special this time of year is- since it’s so different from the rest of the year.
One highlight was my life group Christmas party. I wish I could express how great these ladies are in my life. We stay connected all week with a group text- and we laugh, cry, pray for each other, learn, and just support each other. So many of them came to see me in the Wizard of Oz. We bring food when they are injured or when they have babies. We celebrate births and weddings. We challenge each other. We love each other.
I have said it here before, but when we moved, I just prayed and prayed for friends that were “my people” here. I had people elsewhere, but I wanted people locally so I felt at home. And boy, has that prayer been answered!
*and to encourage you if you are looking for your people- fight the good fight. Stay the course. It took years of being here, investing in people, praying, and sometimes getting hurt before I found my people. A church is a great place to find people who want to walk through life together.
Another favorite thing of mine are Christmas cards. They are still rolling in the mail, but I love seeing them displayed in our home. My card holder says “Every good and perfect gift is from above.” And what gifts friends are.
So those are a few of my favorite things. What do you love about this time of year?
