Back to the Land of the Living

Back to the Land of the Living

The last two days, I’ve basically been at home in a nap-coma from having Strep Throat.

Monday night, I woke up in the night with TERRIBLE back pain and a horrible sore throat.  I recognized the back pain- it’s a symptom I get when I don’t drink enough water.  And I knew I hadn’t drank enough water the last couple of days (which, duh, was because my throat was starting to bother me…)….so I chugged some water and pretty quickly my back was OK.  But my throat was not.

Hot tea (THANK YOU LORD for the Keurig that I could make hot tea at 2 am without much thought!), cold water, throat drops…nothing helped.

Then, I remembered I can make appointments for my doctor online…so at 2:30 am, I made an appointment for the next morning.  Eventually, once my Tylenol kicked in, I got a little more sleep before going to the doctor.

They immediately swabbed me for strep and the doc checked me out while we were waiting for the results.

Well, my strep test came back positive (which my doc was pretty sure of after looking at my red awful throat!)….so she told me I needed to stay home away from people until my symptoms disappeared.

I thought I could work from home some, but nope, turns out I was actually sick and needed to rest.  I originally was pretty pumped about being home because it meant I could watch ALL THE OLYMPICS, but I ended up sleeping most the days away (and even some of the nighttime stuff too!).

I’m much better today and back at work.  I’m looking forward to getting all better.  We have fun plans for the weekend I don’t want to miss!

This has been the year of childhood sickness for me- first an awful ear infection and now strep.  I feel 12 again.

Hope you’ve been well, friends!
