Block It Out

I finished quilt #7 (wait…when did that happen?  see previous quilts here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)… and it’s a t-shirt quilt made of my fitness/race shirts from 2013!  That’s 12 5ks, 1 10ks, 1 triathlon, Zumba convention, 1 Zumbathon, 1 virtual race (the Go Lucy Go 5k), and a walk challenge at work.
I made sure they were all cut 12.5 inches wide (making a finished 12 inch wide block)…and then I just cut them at the height they needed.  Somehow it magically came together in a square!  I had to trim a couple of them shorter, but they all went together great.  I also added a strip of fabric at the top and bottom to make it longer.
The fabric is marathon runners! I had to SEARCH to find this stuff….but I love it!
I’m still pretty terrible at binding.  I think I’m going to have to take my time more on it (and maybe get a lesson from a local quilter lady).  But, I’m pretty happy with it.  I learned a lot about working with t-shirts, and more about quilting…and it’s finished! 🙂
