Breakthrough

What a wonderful Monday I had yesterday!
A great day at work…followed by a GREAT talk with one of my best friends, Amanda…and then I went to the park to run.
I am doing a 5k Sunday (weather permitting…please pray it doesn’t rain Sunday…I REALLY want to run!)…so I’ve been training.
And at the park yesterday, I had a breakthrough. Running was still physically tough, but my mental block was gone. That was an answered prayer!  I had prayed for my mental “just give up” to go away…and it did!
The track around the park is 1.5 miles.  I started off with a few minute warm up walk, the started running.  I ran the whole first .75 miles straight and then had to walk for a minute or so.  Then I ran. I had to stop a few times to catch my breath…but when I got back to my car after lap 2, I had ran 2.88 miles (3 total with my warmup walk).  I decided to push through and keep running until I got to 3.1 (a 5k).  And I made it!!
Here is my RunKeeper summary!  11:50 min/mile pace…at a total of 36:46!!

It was cold (66 when I started and 56 degrees when I quit running) and windy.  I had to do the blow-your-nose-on-the-go (no shame when running) and just blow snot on the ground while running.  My ears were numb…but I felt awesome!

It was the fasted and farthest I have ever run.  I am still not able to run it 100% without stopping, but I think keeping it under a 12 min/mile pace is great!
The 5k on Sunday is pretty hilly (in fact the whole second half is uphill) so I’m only aiming for under a 40 minute time Sunday.  But I think I can do it! Especially after that run!
Tyler was hunting last night.  They didn’t see any deer…but I know he enjoys spending time with his uncle whether or not they bring home a buck.

So while he was gone, I cleaned like a madwoman.  I steam-cleaned our bathrooms, and then I dusted the baseboards.  It is so unlike me to clean when I could be vegging on the couch watching Bravo. 🙂

Breakthrough

If you are dropping in from Kelly’s Korner- WELCOME!  This is my little space of virtual property in the bloggy world and there are a few things you need to know about me.
I LOVE to blog.  I blog about everything: my work, my life, my dog (Mikey, our furbaby),

Zumba (my second job and REAL passion),
weight loss, fashion, cooking (which is why I also must blog about Zumba and weight loss!), and just everything in my random little life.
I am a newlywed. That’s me and my stud, Tyler, so happy on our wedding day.  (Thanks for the retainer in middle school mom!  My teeth are so straight!)
We’ve been married for about 1.5 years.  In that time, we have moved twice, I graduated grad school, started a new job, got a dog, bought 20 acres of land, and built our dream home.
We are blessed.
-I’m a Christ follower.  Jesus is my Savior and without Him I would be completely lost.
-Animal print is my favorite color.
-I’m so glad you are visiting!  Leave me a comment if you are just dropping in. :)  I likey new friends.
You can read my backstory through the pages at the top of the blog through About Britt, Our Wedding, Our Love Story, and Our Home.
Now for those of you who know me already, let’s get to today’s big news.
Ok, three EXCITING breakthroughs last night!
#1- My 5:30 Zumba class was AMAZING.  Like 45 people crammed into that little room, everyone seemed to pick up the steps, a ballin playlist, so much energy that I felt like a superstar, amazing.  I always LOVE Zumba, but last night, I was over the moon.
#2- The scale moved!  Praise the Lord!  I am down 2 pounds this week (and almost 5 from the last time I weighed before that!)  Hello weight loss.  I’m excited to see you again my friend.  Welcome back!
#3- I had a “new outlook on food” breakthrough last night.  (I’m not meaning to sound negative toward my family here….but this was a HUGE breakthrough in my mindset…so I’m celebrating it).  I was baking cookies and making chocolate covered potato chips for the bachelor party Tyler is hosting tonight.  As I made the cookies, I had a couple bites of dough.  Normally, that would be like half a log of cookie dough.  I was proud that I didn’t feel the need to keep grabbing bites.  Second, as I was dipping the potato chips, I only had like 2 plain chips (where before I would have had handfuls as I worked.  Lastly, my husband, mom, and MIL were there and they were taking full advantage of the melted chocolate.  They were dipping fresh cookies, their own chips, and just their fingers in the chocolate.  I was almost disgusted at the ravenous nature going on around that bowl of chocolate.  I had like 2 dipped chips and was done.  I didn’t eat a single cookie hot out of the oven.  NOT A SINGLE COOKIE!  Its a miracle (for reals…its the Lord changing my outlook and my attitude).  They were even eating some of the burnt-ish cookies.  I was pleading with them to back away from the bowl.  Its the first time I have EVER felt that way about food.  No need to snack, sneak bites, and gorge myself.
Progress ya’ll.  Progress.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
