Weekend Recap: Color Me Rad and Birthday

This weekend was great! It started with our little baby killdeer hatching!  They are like 3 inches tall and running around our yard!
Friday after work we headed to Hot Springs for the weekend.  We had dinner at Jahna’s (a great little Italian place….uhoh for my weekly weigh in!)…and then we went to bed pretty early because we had an early Saturday wake up!
We headed to Little Rock for the Color Me Rad.  We walked it…but had a GREAT time!
Before….all clean…
 And after! ha!
This was our first 5k together!
We had a great time!
We napped Saturday and then went out for ice cream.  After, we went putt putting.  It was my dad’s first time!  Yes, he is 77 and had NEVER been putt putt golfing.  He did pretty well!
Sunday, we got up early and went to breakfast on the boat….but Mother Nature crashed that party and started raining.
It eventually cleared and we spent the afternoon at the pool.  Dad BBQed and we had a little belated birthday party for me….including cupcakes from Fat Bottomed Girls. #thisiswhyimfat
We had a fun time playing volleyball with my cousins, eating BBQ, and hanging out.  It was a great weekend!
How was your weekend?

Weekend Recap: Hot Foot 5K and Other Fun

Weekend Recap: Hot Foot 5K and Other Fun

Another great weekend in the books.  Friday evening, I came home and spent some time with Tyler and my FIL.  He is staying with us right now (he just came back from working in Oklahoma…and he is staying with us while he gets everything set.).  I made some dinner and we watched some TV, but the boys were watching shows I wasn’t interested in….so I took my laptop and a Hanson concert DVD into the closet, and did some cleaning. It was great.

Saturday morning, I got up and headed to town for the Hot Foot Run 5k.  It was put on by the firefighteres for a local camp they sponsor.  It was great.  I was attempting to beat my time (without training enough…) so I pushed myself too fast (and it was HOT!  The hottest weather I’ve ever run in!) so I had to walk a bit.  But it was so inspirational.  There were 3 firemen running in full gear!  The first one finished just 3 minutes behind me.

And this awesome man, he did the whole 5k in 107 pound bomb squad gear!  It took him 1 hour and 20 minutes…but he finished strong!  It was great because normally at 5ks, people scatter after they finish….but we all waited around for the firefighters.  The finish line crowd was cheering on other people as they finished and it was so fun.

I came home, took a little nap, and made us a late brunch when we woke up.  I got a surprise in the mail- my print from the Hanson art gallery!  They had a gallery of paintings from Zac and photography from Taylor…and I bought this print.  It is signed and numbered (#4) by Taylor, and it is special because I’m named after my grandma Bertha!  I’m going to frame it and hang it in my kitchen.  My namesake from my favorite band!  Too neat!

Saturday afternoon, I went to the lake and took Mikey.  He was NOT impressed with this Boston who was bugging him.  He may have growled at him several times.  Poor Mikey is not super social.  But he did great with the kids at the lake.  And then we got snowcones, and he did great with all the people around.

Saturday evening I saw The Great Gatsby with Brandy.  It was a GREAT movie.  Beautiful story and gorgeous movie.  After that, I went to the RC track to watch Tyler and stayed there until he finished at 12:30!
Today, we did Sunday school and church (which are always HUGE blessings!).  We are usually the last ones out of church because we linger and visit with friends.  I just love it.  Then we had lunch with some friends, came home and napped….and then BBQed for dinner.  A great day.
I hope you had a great weekend!  I’m looking forward to a great week!

Weekend Recap: Zumba, 5K, Date Day, and Picnic

Weekend Recap: Zumba, 5K, Date Day, and Picnic

Another awesomely fun weekend!
Friday after work, we held a Zumba Master Class with all of the instructors at the gym.  We never get to all dance together, so it was fun to do the class all together!
Tina, Tracey, Me, Kristen, and Cece
We had a great turnout and lots of fun!
After the class, we ate our calories back with some Mexican food! ha!
I came home and pretty much went straight to bed.  I was up early Saturday to run the Charleston Inferno Run.  It benefitted the Charleston Fire Dept.  It was a gloomy, rainy morning…but we were excited because it was my friend Lisa’s first 5K! (and it was my 3rd 5k in three weekends!  The 5th of 13 for this year!)
I got a pretty good time (35:40…only 1 minute slower than my PR)…and I walked some.  So I must have busted it out when I ran!  I forgot to turn my GPS app on, so I have no idea what my pace was….I just ran.  It was fun!
Afterwards, I came home and napped a couple hours…and then we had Date Day!
We started at the local car show.  Because of the gloomy, rainy weather, there weren’t as many cars as usual…but Tyler still enjoyed checking out all the cars.
After the car show, we got some lunch at Landry’s…and then hit up some pawn shops!  Tyler LOVES going to pawn shops.  We only got a DVD and a video game…but both for $7!
Then we hit up the mall, saw Identity Thief at the cheap theater, and then did a little more shopping.  We enjoyed just being together doing nothing at all Saturday evening.  Really great!
Sunday after church, we did a little housework, and then went to the park for our church picnic!  I LOVE this event.  They do it a couple times each year.  The church makes burgers and dogs…and the rest is potluck. Good food, fellowship, and volleyball! 🙂 Tyler’s team won…and the prize was a sonic gift card! Holla!

It was a GREAT weekend! In fact, I think I wore myself out so much I subconsciously set my alarm wrong! Haha! My boot camp alarm was set for PM so I didn’t make it there this morning. Oh we’ll, at least I got up in time to get ready for work!
Hope you had a great weekend!

Weekend Recap: Tulsa and the Color Run

Weekend Recap: Tulsa and the Color Run

I had such a fun weekend! After work, I headed to Tulsa to meet some sweet, sweet friends.  I FINALLY got to hug my sweet friend Cristi…and I got to meet Chasity too!

We immediately, like all good southern girls, went straight to a Mexican restaurant to eat salsa and talk.
Los Cabos had a mariachi band (complete with an Elvis impersonator!)

We talked and talked and talked like old friends.  I can’t believe I got to meet Cristi.  She has been such a HUGE encouragement and soul sister to me.  Blogland and the Twitterverse can be good things, y’all.  And I know God can use them.  And He did bringing Cristi into my life! 🙂

Saturday morning, we were up early to head downtown for THE COLOR RUN! The three of us also met up with my friend Lauren, and her friend Ashley….and we were all there together.

I LOVED all the cute signs set up.  They were made for photo ops.

We finally made it to the start line about 30 minutes after the race started.  There were well over 15,000 people there….and we went in waves of 1000!

We took our sweet time walking…and danced through all the color stations.  Cristi’s fave was the pink! 🙂

This was after all the colors had been applied.  Honestly, the orange made me look like Snooky.  Dear Color Run, please do away with the orange.  It wasn’t very pretty. ha!

After the race, I met up with Tyler’s cousins….Candace, Anita, and Jennifer (she is a knew blogger…pop over and say hi!).  They live in Tulsa….and I LOVED getting to see them, even if for only a second!

We did the big color throw and then took some pics!

Jumping for joy!

After the race, we came back to the hotel, changed clothes, grabbed lunch, and headed home.

Saturday evening was pretty low key.

Sunday, I worked in the nursery…and then after church it was GORGEOUS outside.  So Tyler suggested a little ride to Waldron to the shooting range.  He hadn’t been there in years…but he thought he could find his way.  Thankfully, the Forest Commission had signs pointing the way.  Y’all…it was BEAUTIFUL out there.  The shooting range was against the backdrop of a beautiful mountain.  So nice. We shot off several hundred rounds and had a great time!

Tyler loves shooting his AR-15. It is so loud.

I mostly shot the .22 rifle.  I love it.

And this was the lovely river leading to the shooting range.  I love Arkansas’ natural beauty.

I hope you all had a GREAT weekend.  🙂  Happy Monday!
