The Great Christmas Cookie Swap

Yesterday we hosted a cookie swap for a bunch of friends after church.
The friends were mostly people Tyler went to high school with…and a few other church friends.  It was SO FUN!
I didn’t get a picture of everyone there…but so many fun friends came out!  We really enjoyed talking (the women talked about pregnancy- there were 2 preggo ladies there- babies, work, faith, and funny stories…and the guys played with Tyler’s RC car and watched football after eating and eating and eating).  Such a great time.  We have already decided to have a superbowl party at our house so everyone can get together again!
Tyler put up the “Party’s Here” sign as we came home from church.
I had the whole kitchen set up for food!  The wine table held the plates, napkins and forks.
The first part of our counter had the sandwhiches….ham rolls, tortilla rolls ups, and club sandwhich puffs.  Pretty much everything was eaten!
The next section had BBQ meatballs, chips with bean dip and salsa…
The past the stove was pita chips and hummus, crackers and pepper jelly, bagel chips and cheddar dip…
Chips and french onion dip, veggies and fruit trays…
And for drinks we had crock pot hot chocolate (which was DELISH and such a hit!) and tea and water.
Nancy spent some time holding baby Myles.  Mikey was HILARIOUS with the babies.  He didn’t bark, he didn’t whine, he didn’t bother you while you held them.  He just kept his eyes on you.  Here he is craning his neck to see the baby.
Jessica also got to love on Myles.
The whole kitchen was full of friends.  It is such a blessing to have friends to fill our home with laughter!
These were all the cookies.  Everything from chocolate chip, mint cookies, white choc caramel, oreo bark, oreo balls, thin mints, and more deliciousness.
I got to love on baby Myles a bit too!
But Myles wasn’t the only adorable baby to visit!  Ian was asleep during the first part of the party, but when he woke up he got passed around too!  Ian is 9 months and so fun!  He was playing with some of my tupperware containers and some balls around our house!  Precious!
We stuffed ourselves from the food and cookies and then laughed off all the calories (I wish!)
God has really blessed us with some great friends here.  I am so thankful that these people who grew up with Tyler have embraced me and loved on me too!  They are a fun bunch!  Can’t wait to get together again soon!

Christmas Recap

We were blessed enough to celebrate three Christmases! We started Christma Eve afternoon at Tyler’s dad’s house. Tony was a sweet host and made us BBQ. We ate lunch and talked and opened gifts in his new house in Oklahoma.
We got Tony some framed wedding gifts and a really cool thing we found in Mexico.

I was excited because Tony (with the help of Nancy) got me a Periwinkle 60th anniversary Fiesta pitcher!
Then we went to Nancy’s house and ate (and ate and ate). There was quite a spread with two soups, lots of dips and snacks, and many desserts.

Then we went to Christmas Eve candlelight service at their church. Then we came home and opened gifts. Nancy went a little overboard and we all got tons of gifts. All of these gifts were for like 7 people.

Everyone was so generous! I got lots of new Fiesta (well…old Fiesta. Some Periwinkle, Apricot, and Sea Mist pieces…jumbo mugs, boullion bowls, and a clock).

We all got huge glow sticks in our stockings and played with them! These sweet girls are Tyler’s cousins Kelsey and Heather.

Nancy got us all animal print Turbie towels…

Then we spent the night at Nancys and got up early and ate breakfast, then headed to my house! We ate Christmas lunch and visited with family and opened gifts. I didn’t take a lot of pics because I was too busy hanging out with everyone. We usually open gifts oldest to youngest- and my dad can never wait his turn. He just quietly opens them during everyone else’s turn!

Luke was the sweetest gift opener. He said “Thank You” to whoever got him the gift BEFORE he ever opened it. Then he made sure his brother and sister said thank you to each gift too! “Say thank you Bubba….say thank you!”

Gavin got some cool board games and lots of wrestler stuff. He is 7 and in that phase.

And Miss Priss Caitlyn got some great gifts. This was her iPod. She really liked it, can’t you tell? She is 10.

We had a blessed holiday with family and are sad Christmas is over. I took down the decorations today while I was home hanging out. Christmas is packed up and gone….but now we can move on to some other exciting things going on in our lives right now. I’ll fill you in soon… (and NO…not pregnant! It seems like everytime I tell anyone that exciting things are happening they guess that I’m pregnant! We have lots of other exciting things going on in our lives. Just because we are newlywed doesn’t mean I’m ready to pop out children! 🙂 haha)

Homemade Christmas Gifts

So back in September when I was starting to sew I showed you some towels I “made myself.” Well, I lied. I made them for my aunt for Christmas. In fact, every woman on my Christmas list got a set of homemade embellished towels. Now that they have opened them, I can show you my creations!
These are for my momma…who has fat chefs in her kitchen…
“Never trust a skinny cook” Love it!
These are for my grandma Ellie, my Nene…who has gingerbread men in her kitchen. It was difficult finding non-Christmas gingerbread men fabric…but I did! They are so cute!

These are for grandma Gloria, Gram, who has roosters. These little roosters are so funky and fun.
And Tyler’s mom, Nancy, got these elegant roosters. Yes, look close, there are roosters in those little swirly designs.

And the ones I showed you before. They are indeed, not for me, but for my Aunt Sandy. She doesn’t really have a theme in her kitchen, so I just picked this fun fabric.

Christmas Cards

So I decided I wanted to do Christmas cards this year. It just seemed like a fun thing to do. So I looked on, and was just overwhelmed with options, sellers, and pricing lists. So then I remembered a woman I went to undergrad with at OBU who has a graphic design business. Leslie did our cards for us this year and I love them! I sent them out just after Thanksgiving, but I wanted to wait until our family and friends recieved them to show you….so they were surprised in the mail.

Aren’t they cute? Merry Christmas from us to you!
