Weird night…

So last night we had a strange night at our house. It all started when I went to clean the kitchen after dinner. Our indicator light on the stove (indicating that a burner is on) has been flickering lately. When it should be on, sometimes its off….or when it should be off, its flickering on. I didn’t think much about it as the stove is old. Last night, I sprayed cleaner on the stovetop and was wiping it down…when BOOM! The light literally blew up! I am thinking it had a short in it and some of the cleaning liquid overheated and blew it up. It blew up on my arm…and I have a small burn on my arm…but its not bad and I’m fine.
That wasn’t the weirded thing, though.
We went to sleep, and after I went to sleep and before Tyler fell asleep, Tyler woke me up. He wasn’t trying to…but I sensed him get out of bed and walk all around…then I realized he had turned on several lights. This was quite unusual, so I called for him, and he was downstairs. He had heard what he swears was someone trying to come in our door, like fidgeting with the doorknob, so he went to inspect. While he was down there, he heard a loud thud against the door! But unfortunately, we don’t have a peephole in our door or a window that we can look out at the front, and Tyler was smart enough not to open the door to whatever was outside….so we’ll never know what it was. There are several neighborhood dogs, cats, and I’ve seen some possums….or it could have been the bushes next to our door rustling and the thud could have been our neighbors wooden Christmas decorations falling down in the wind. But we will never know.
Those two things made for a really strange night at our house….but thankfully, we are ok and tonight seems to be going much smoother.
On another note, I dropped off our angel tree gift today. We got an angel off the angel tree for a 5 year old boy named David. We bought David a bike, some toys, and an outfit and some shoes. If there are still angels to be claimed in your area, go get one. Its so fun to buy gifts for someone…and these gifts are for people who really could use some love and blessings. Spread the Christmas cheer!

Christmas Decorations!

I put up our Christmas decorations last night. I know, I know…its early. But, we have a busy weekend coming up, then we will be at my home for Thanksgiving….then we come back…and we leave on a cruise Dec. 11…so if I don’t get them up soon, they won’t make it up in time for us to enjoy them. So Tyler worked late, and I decorated.

Let me take you on a tour of our home.

This sign isn’t on the front door yet (waiting a little longer…) but it will be soon!

In the downstairs half bath…this little elf will greet you….
And he blocks his eyes while you do your business! 🙂
This little metal ornament tree is from Target on the side table….
I have some light ornament garland going up the stairs.
This little tree is at the top of the stairs in the little corner nook.

Downstairs, this beautiful hand-carved Nativity tree hangs on the wall.

Our tiny stockings and snowflake holders on the TV (our makeshift mantle).
These glittery trees are on top of the TV stand.
Peppermint ornaments on the coffee table…
And now to show you some ornaments that are on our tree. We kinda have a newlywed theme going on! We got several ornaments last year and this year that are for our first Christmas.

This one is from last year- for our engagement. It has the engagement date and a sparkly diamond!
This is Rudolph (from the claymation movie) and his girl. Our first Christmas together.
This ornament has our whole wedding party on it.
We picked up these penguins in Maui on our honeymoon. Just Maui’ed.
And I got this one in Branson when I was on my trip with the girls this summer. Its two snowmen on a motorcycle….because Tyler is my biker babe!
And this is our little tree! I got it at an estate sale for $1! Its perfect for us now.
This tiny Nativity set sits on the bookshelf.
And this is a lace card holder. The big white area at the bottom actually says “Season’s Greetings” and it is two pockets to hold the cards we get. The snowman also says “The Lee’s” on his belly.
This is a cute little peppermint tray I got online during a Christmas in July sale.
On the behind the couch table, I have my little cake stand of ornaments….
And my little silver tree ($1 at Walgreens last year!) and you can barely see it, but in black, it says “Joy”

So while I am a little early, we are ready for Christmas! At least we can enjoy all our decorations and the season and get in the spirit sooner rather than later!

Can’t Believe It

Christmas is over. It was wonderful. Lots of family, laughter, good food, and some great gifts.

We have finished the wedding to-dos for now. We only have programs and rehearsal invites. Crazy. Something like 70-something days.

2009 is almost over. What a year it was. Got engaged, graduated collge, moved to a new city, started grad school. What will 2010 have in store for me?

Only like a week and a half left at home. Mom and I are having a girls day tomorrow filled with pedicures and manicures and all things wonderful.

Can’t believe how blessed I am. I don’t deserve this.

The Best Way to Spread Christmas Cheer….

Well after we spent alllllllll day doing housework in my tiny one bedroom apartment (what ever will we do in a bigger house??), we sat down to watch Elf. Its my second favorite Christmas movie (second to White Christmas…but Tyler semi-refuses to watch White Christmas b/c the cover makes it look old and boring). As we were watching Elf, I got the HUGE urge to go look at Christmas lights. So we went to the Lights of the Ozarks on the Square. They were great! I’m such in a Christmas mood now! Only one day until I head home for break!
