Fun Day at Silver Dollar City

Fun Day at Silver Dollar City

We got passes to Silver Dollar City for Christmas, so we wanted to start using them! Tyler had Good Friday off, so we decided to head up to Branson for the day.  We tried a there-and-back trip….which wasn’t too bad. Remi was EXHAUSTED and slept the whole way home, but she did well all day.

It was her first time at SDC. It’s a special place for me. Sure, lots of people love it, but I worked there for 2 summers during my teenage years, so it’s a VERY special place for me. I literally know it like the back of my hand. For two summers, we ate most every meal there, played there, worked there, got to experience the park when it was closed (both before and after hours)…so it was special to take her there.

We got to the park, parked, got a cinnamon roll (one of my must-eats!) and saw the pogo stick show! They jumped SO high.

She was enthralled with everything. I love her zest for life. Everything is exciting, including these big wind chimes.

Caitlyn and I got on the new coaster- Time Traveler. It was SO good.

Then we met up with everyone for lunch. This festival was the Festival of Wonder, which included a big hall full of food stalls- and we all sort of sampled things for lunch. LOTS of yummy options!  Some of our faves: BBQ nachos, crab-topped waffle fries, pulled pork mac and cheese grilled cheese, and a bang bang shrimp waffle cone.

After lunch, we took Remi to the kids area to ride rides. She was PUMPED, then got a little scared, and bless her, she white knuckled through a couple rides.

The balloons was NOT her fave, but she insisted on trying another ride after.

The puppy dogs was her fave, I think.  It was hard to tell sitting behind her.

We all hit up the train next! Remi had to take a quick potty break while waiting for the train, and we found her a superhero cape and mask on the way back. (They have the neatest shops around the city!). She LOVED being Super Remi!

Next up was the carousel. Also not sure about that.

Then we all headed to wait in line for the big fire show- Phoenix Fire. We had to wait a bit, which made her get antsy, but the show was GREAT.

After the show, we hit up the candy shop and ice cream shop (ALL THE FOOD). Remi was SO EXCITED for her ice cream.

While we waited on the tram to take us back to our cars, we took some family photos.

Remi girl LOVES these cousins!

And we love our girl!

She slept 95% of the drive home. Once we got in the car, she was eating a snack and recapping her day and then she promptly passed out, holding her popcorn bag.

She slept until our bathroom/food stop, woke up to potty then went back to sleep before she could eat any of her food.

When we got home, she asked to go to bed. Bless her. She tried to nap in her stroller at SDC and just couldn’t- too much going on- but she was a sweet kiddo all day until we got in the car and she just passed out.

I’m SO glad we got to spend this fun day together! We will be back, Silver Dollar City!

Remi’s Hot Springs Weekend

Remi’s Hot Springs Weekend

While mommy and daddy had some fun with our friends, Remi got to play with our family!

Before we ever left, she was being CRAZY, jumping on my bed while I tried to get ready.  (I left her quietly watching Daniel Tiger on “momma’s big bed” but that’s not how I found her!)

On the drive down, sweet girl took a little snooze.  I sat in the back with her, so I was able to sneak a picture of this preciousness.

We started with a visit to see Uncle Neil.  Remi liked playing around the library at the nursing home!

After seeing Uncle Neil, Ty and I went with our friends, and Remi and mom met up with Auntie and Gavvy and Luke at the Mid-America Science Museum!  Mom said she LOVED it. I’m sure it also had something to do with playing with some of her favorite people!

Outside, they had a dinosaur walk, and she LOVES dinos! She was pretty happy to be hunting them.

Found one!  SO neat!

Back at the hotel, they swam, ate pizza and crashed. Remi and Luke snuggled up, which was adorable. He’s finally warming up to her and interacting more with her.

Sunday, we met back up with them at church and all had lunch before heading home. Remi was so worn out she slept the entire way home!

Meeting Auntie Paula!

Meeting Auntie Paula!

My half-sister Paula lives in California, so we don’t get to see her often. In fact, the last time she was in to visit was the weekend I found out I was pregnant!

Remi has heard ALL about her Auntie Paula, and she’s sent us some very sweet gifts that Remi loves….so she was SO EXCITED to meet her!

She took right to her and wanted to give her a big hug.

Paula went to visit dad, we had lunch together, and then we all went downtown for dinner.  Remi wanted to go look at the statue (she really wanted to ride it! ha!)

It was just so nice to visit and all be together. (blurry photo, but fun memories!)

Paula lives near San Diego, so I think we are gonna have to go visit soon! There’s a lot of fun stuff to do, and we can spend it with her fun Auntie Paula!

Momma Got to Have Some Fun

Momma Got to Have Some Fun

I’ve had some evenings where I’ve had some fun lately- which are WONDERFUL.

I’m thankful for my people understanding that I need to fill my cup as well.

The first fun was a night in Fayetteville to see A Bronx Tale musical.

We had dinner at Mockingbird Kitchen- which was SO good!  And the best part was it was “Tini Tuesday” so we got some of their fun martinis!

A Bronx Tale was good…a little too much going on (mob story, love story, racism story, etc.) but it was entertaining and the cast was great.

The second fun happened while Tyler and Remi were at Daddy Date Night.  I got to meet up with Brandy for dinner!  We usually meet for lunch dates, so it was nice to meet and not have a lunch time clock ticking. I’m so thankful for this friend! img_8383.jpg

The next fun day came on the weekend when Mom and I went to Tulsa for the day.  We started at the Woody Guthrie Museum to learn about the folk singer (he wrote This Land is Your Land). Very interesting to learn about Oklahoma in the early 1900s and what inspired Woody to write so much.

We initially went for the Leonard Bernstein 100 exhibit. He’s a great American composer and conductor- and the Woody Guthrie museum held part of it.  Really neat to see the life and times of this very talented man!

There other half of the exhibit was at the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art. This was mostly about his religion and West Side Story! We got to go into a “recording studio” and sing part of “America” from West Side Story! So fun, until we realized you could hear us outside the “studio!” ha!

We also got to see the desk where he wrote the musical and notes with the original score an lyrics. Just neat parts of musical history!

And they had a fun Jews Rock! Exhibit with guitars decorating for famous Jewish rock stars!

We grabbed a quick lunch at Torchy’s! We love it and usually go in Dallas, and the Tulsa location is pretty new. We were excited to try it out!  We split that chicken and waffle taco- yum!

After lunch, we saw The Play That Goes Wrong. OMG it was SO funny! If it comes near you, you HAVE to see it!

Then we did some shopping and ate dinner at Smoke before heading home. It was a great day!
