Big Cedar Vacation: Day 2

Big Cedar Vacation: Day 2

After our fun day on the property, we decided to spend the next day at Silver Dollar City.  I LOVE this place, and I’m pretty sure everyone else does too.

I asked if we could get there before it opened, since I love the opening ceremony. And they all agreed. It was the perfect day. Weather wasn’t humid- was still semi-cool and since we beat the crowd, it was wonderful.

Our first stop was a cinnamon roll to share (a MUST!). (We also opted to rent a stroller there since with theirs, she could easily climb in and out when she wanted instead of ours where she needed to be placed in the seat)

After the opening ceremony, we headed down to the kid’s area….and passed the face painting with NO LINE. So guess who got her face painted?  She was pretty excited!

IMG_0644

She’s still really timid with the rides, and I’ll admit, we may have pushed her a little too much.  But she says she likes these dogs, but she only wanted to ride it once. ha!

IMG_0641

We played around the Fireman’s Landing area until Lucky the Rescue Dog came out to greet friends…and we convinced her it was Marshall from Paw Patrol. ha!

IMG_0646

We went to the saloon show (another favorite) and Remi was LOVING it.  Clapping and enthralled with the dancers- and then daddy got called into the show! It was so fun!

IMG_5137

He was made into the judge, and it was HILARIOUS. They were feeding him lines in his ear and he was perfect.

IMG_5139

On the way out, we had to take a picture with the saloon girls.  She loved them, and they enjoyed watching her enjoy the show.

IMG_5141

We hit another ride area and then, of course, got BLUE ice cream (all things blue!)

IMG_5143

We hit up the petting zoo area (which to be honest, was a bit of a bummer with few animals….) but she liked meeting the goats.

IMG_5146

We did some other fun- playing in the schoolhouse, playing some games on the square, eating DELISH food….and then she PASSED out on the ride home (around 4 pm).  It’s WONDERFUL that she can hang now without a nap…but then she crashes.

IMG_5147

We made dinner in the condo and then we played some board games. This was the start of a tournament for us- we played a team game each night…and ultimately mom and Tyler won 2/3.

Memorial Day Weekend Part 2

Memorial Day Weekend Part 2

Sunday after naptime, we headed south to a horse camp where Tyler’s family was camped out.  My MIL Nancy goes down there with her brother, niece and some friends…and we went for the afternoon and dinner.

It was basically a nice RV park, but with horse stalls.  They ride trails during the day and cookout and enjoy RV life in the evenings.

Remi had to ride Rex, Gigi’s horse, and she waved to everyone around the camp.

IMG_0432

We also made friends with two younger kids there who were VERY excited to share their horse with Remi. They let her feed the horse a popsicle (miniature horses are known for eating just about anything…I had one growing up!).

IMG_0433

And then she rode it bareback with a little help from daddy! She’s so brave!

IMG_0434

Monday we headed over to my mom’s for breakfast with our Hot Springs family who was in town. Remi LOVES Luke, so wherever he was, that’s where she wanted to be!

IMG_0408

After breakfast we swam. The water was SO nice.

IMG_0410

Remi isn’t a normal kid- she complains about the water being too cold, so Nene helped her bundle up. I love that she knows her great grandma!

IMG_3378

We all walked down to the lake to feed the fish. Well, we walked. Remi rode her 4 wheeler down (and Gavin carried it back).

IMG_0415

I think Remi ate as much bread as she gave the fish!

IMG_0416IMG_0417

We all ate lunch together (while she entertained us with gymnastics) and then the family headed home (and we headed home to nap!).

IMG_0418

While Remi napped, I set up our hammock on the back porch and started a new book.  This one is a bit “racy” in some parts, but it’s kept me interested so far!

IMG_0420

Tyler had to work a VERY long day. Over Memorial Day weekend we got crazy flooding in our area- the Arkansas River went beyond the 500-year floodplain.  But he’s such a good daddy.  He came home and helped put Remi to bed.  This is her version of “snuggling”- we just lay halfway in her bed while she pats us on the head.

IMG_0428

(I wrote this on June 5, and at this point, Tyler is in his second week of working 12 hours every day because of the flooding.  I feel for the people whose homes were demolished, and I’m glad he’s called to help…but we miss him!)

Playing Catch Up

Playing Catch Up

We had a busy couple of weeks, but here are the highlights of some fun inbetween.

One afternoon Remi asked to go to the park after school, so we agreed to a fun night. We stopped first for an early dinner (so we could play until it was time to go home), and Remi surprised us! She asked the server for chopsticks and USED THEM.

She amazes us every day.

IMG_0232

Caitlyn came to visit after her graduation, and Steel Magnolias happened to be showing in the theaters for the 30th anniversary.  We LOVED seeing it on the big screen!

IMG_0316

My work team had a fun team building day where we went to Lake Fort Smith and hiked about 6 miles on the Shepherd Springs Loop.  It was hot and mosquito-y, but it was a fun day with my coworkers.

IMG_0323IMG_0327IMG_0328

We finally found some sunglasses that Remi likes to wear. Yes, they are little boys. No, I don’t care.

IMG_0337

She was SO HAPPY to match daddy in her sunglasses and ride on the lawn mower with him.

Caitlyn’s Graduation

Caitlyn’s Graduation

My sweet cousin Caitlyn was born when I was 13, so it’s sort of hard to believe she’s ready to graduate! I can’t be old enough for her to be 18, right?!

We are SO proud of her and so excited she’s coming near us for college. We LOVE KK and are excited to spend more time with her.

We went to Hot Springs to celebrate her graduation. Her church hosted a lovely lunch for families, and it was a good time to all be together.

Saturday evening, they had a party at a family friend’s home. It was pouring rain, and silly Remi HAD to use her own umbrella walking in. #soindependent

IMG_0204

Sunday morning, my mom went to their church for the service, but I wanted to let Remi take the morning slow.  We got breakfast and went to the pool. She LOVED her Paw Patrol swim suit and swimming with us!

IMG_0205

After a good nap, we got ready and grabbed lunch and took it to Uncle Neil. Remi LOVES pushing him in his big chair. She also loves the library there.

IMG_0207

She was GREAT during graduation (thanks to my phone and some headphones). It was great to see Caitlyn get her diploma and cheer on her class.

IMG_0210

We snapped a few pics after the ceremony and then headed to a big dinner with extended family.

IMG_0216IMG_0218IMG_0219

We got home late, but it was a wonderful time with family and celebrating Cait.
