Confessional Friday: Getting to Know You

It seems like more fun friends have been finding my blog lately, so I LOVED when Leslie over at A Blonde Ambition decided to host a Getting to Know You post today.
Here’s a bit about me…
I’m Brittney.  I have mostly lived in Arkansas my whole life (the exception being a short stint living in Branson, MO during my teens).  I grew up in central AR, went to school in southern Arkansas, grad school in NW Arkansas, and now live in the River Valley.  I LOVE my beautiful home state.
I’m married to Tyler.  He used to own a motorcycle shop, but he sold it and is currently looking for a job.  We’ve been married since 2010…coming up on our 4 year anniversary.
I have degrees in Communication

(Mass Comm and Speech Comm) and while I do love public speaking, interpersonal communication and the power of words, I really enjoy my job in marketing as a writer.
We built our home a few years ago (all while I was finishing grad school and we lived 1.5 hours from where we were building….talk about learning marriage compromises!!) .  Our house isn’t anything extravagant, but it’s perfect.
We have a fur baby, Mikey.  He is SO full of personality and spunk, and he’s spoiled rotten.
In my free time, I love doing fitness things.  I teach Zumba Fitness classes, and do other fitnessy things like try new classes and run (or at least, try to run!  I hurt my IT band/knee last year and am getting back into it.)
Last year, I did 13 races (plus one triathlon!).  It was exciting.
My favorite band is Hanson, and last year I saw them 4 times.  They aren’t touring this year, so I’m going through withdrawals.  Hopefully I’ll be able to catch a couple shows though.
I taught myself how to quilt, and am trying to complete 6 quilts this year.  One down…
I am so blessed with great friends.  I made some great friends through blogging, at work, at Zumba, and at church.
I love shopping, cooking healthy, watching TV shows on USA (CAN NOT wait for Suits to return!!), and spending time with my family.
I started blogging a few years ago while studying about Computer-Mediated Communication in grad school.  I loved reading blogs and joined in.  And I’m SO glad I did.  I’ve found an outlet for thoughts, a way to keep memories in one place, and SO much support and friendships.
Thanks for popping over to my corner of blogland.  Leave me a comment.  I’d love to hear from you!

Five on Friday: Spending Dollars

Linking up with The Good Life blog for Five on Friday.  Today is all about things I want/have bought recently.

1. I LOVED this shirt when a local boutique, Hazel’s Haven posted it.  Talk about cute and comfy looking!  I went yesterday at lunch and got it in the navy (which is a little more royal looking in person).

2. I recently got this nail polish at Sephora.

I am IN LOVE.  It’s an irrdescent sparkle…and it makes those blah colors (like an ugly beige…just not my nail color style) into something pretty.  I took a greige color, added the sparkle…and it’s a pretty purpleish color now.

3. I  REALLY want two things for my new car:  A monogram license plate.  I really like this one.

4. And a pink Toyota emblem.

5. I also bought monogram car mats.  Don’t judge me.

So that’s where my money has gone… 🙂

What about you? Anything you’re eyeing?

Non-Scale Victory Linkup

It’s been a while, but I’m linking up with Katie at KTJ Weighin In for Non-Scale Victory linkup
I’m just sharing a couple things that were awesome this week that were strides toward healthier living, but not necessarily scale related.
First, on Monday when it was nice outside, we walked at lunch.  I’ve been walking on nice days with my coworkers…and it just feels so good to get moving.
Second, I made GREAT food choices at church last night.  What’s funny is I’m doing a Bible study at church on Wednesday about healthier living…but temptations abound there.  I did pre-order a chicken salad, so I skipped the delicious looking chicken fried steak and had my salad.  But sometimes I struggle with the dessert options.  I happily ate my 90 calorie brownie that came with my salad and didn’t even look at the dessert table.
And I did two mornings in a row of Jillian.  I REALLY wanted to stay in bed for a few more minutes today because I have a ridiculously long day….but I got up and did it.  And I feel great for doing it.
And the annual girl scout cookie preorder is in full effect.  And I haven’t ordered ANY.  Last year, I preordered just one box…but then ended up buying more when they came in.  Just saying no this year.
What did you do for your health this week?

Five on Friday: Exciting Week

I’m linking up with the Good Life Blog for Five on Friday.
This week was a good one.  Back to Bible study, back to routine, feeling good.
1. Remember a couple weeks ago when we were misled about a car?  Well, that doesn’t matter anymore because we found the perfect car!  It’s in Kansas City (which isn’t perfect…it’s 5 hours away) but we got a great salesman helping us..and Tyler is going to buy the car tomorrow.  Now to name him.  I was thinking Percy or Paquito (it’s a Prius V, so I feel the need for a P name).  Suggestions are welcome.  I prefer male names for my vehicle.  I currently have Roger the Rogue.
2. Earlier in the week I was tweeting Peanut Butter & Co. It was a strange convo.  They were talking about burgers with peanut butter, and I sent them a link to my blog when I ate a PB burger at Hanson Day in Tulsa.  Well, I guess they took a look around here, and saw that I am a big fan of their PB (I have recipes and even visited their restaurant in NYC)…and they sent me three free jars for being a fan.  LOVE it.
3. I’m back to morning weight workouts.  I’m not just trying to lose weight and get back to where I was, I’m trying to make my arms look good for Alden’s wedding.  They are sore.
4. Today is my MIL’s birthday.  We celebrated last night with dinner and bowling. And cookie cake.  Lord help us. It was a chocolate cookie with chocolate chips.  I had a teeny tiny piece and it was good.
5. Hanson was playing in Jamaica last weekend (I SO wish I was there).  It was a 4 day event thing at an all inclusive resort.  Anywho, I was keeping track of the set lists and concerts (duh) and found out about a song I’d never heard: Cried.  Apparently, it was a bonus on the “I Will Come to You” single, which I never bought back in 1997 because I had the whole album.  You better believe I got on eBay and found one the singles and ordered it. For reference, if you care, this is the song.
Well kids, I hope you have a great Friday. Remember to choose joy.  A cheerful heart is like a good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones. Prov 17:22
