How I Met My Tyler

Kelly’s Korner is doing “How you met your husband” today for Show Us Your Life.

I made this slideshow for the wedding, and its our little love story.

To sum it up (in case you don’t want to watch a 3 minute video)…we were both at Ouachita…had similar groups of friends…ended up hanging out alot…and a spark caught on fire and we started dating.

It is kinda neat though, that neither one of us ever really wanted to go to Ouachita. Tyler had plans for OU, but his dad had an accident, and he went to UA Fort Smith for a couple years, then transferred to OBU. I wanted to go far away to Belmont in Nashville, but got full scholarship offer from OBU.

And I was chasing after another boy up until the day the spark appeared. I had a HUGE crush on another guy and was trying to get HIM to come hang out with me and my friends one night. He said no, that he had other plans, but Tyler and some other people came along….and we ended up talking, laughing, and flirting at dinner. I’m SO GLAD the other guy wasn’t interested or I would have barked up the wrong tree! Tyler is so right for me and God put us together for sure!

*There is one thing that is incorrect in the video. We started dating Dec. 1, 2007, NOT 2008. I know…I messed this up on our wedding video. Its ok. Our wedding still rocked.*

Home

What an amazing word that is. Though I have moved away (to the far off land of NWA), coming home means home home. Home, Hot Springs, home. Home, family, home. Dogs, home. Big bedroom, home. Christmas tree, home.

Its good.

I got home last night, ate dinner with my daddy, then watched my mom bowl on her league. Her team won the second quarter of the year and had to play the first quarter winners to be the winners of the first half. They were going strong, but by the time they got to game 5 and 6, they were worn out and lost. Oh well.

Today we are running around town. Signing up at the gym (gotta get ready to fit in that wedding dress!), Hobby Lobby, meeting with the DJ, and I might head to OBU tonight to see some friends. Gotta get in all the friend time I can. That time is precious.

So, I’m off for a busy busy day. But at least I’m home.

Mixed Ramblings

There is so much going on, and so much on my mind, sleep doesn’t seem good anymore. Just tossing and turning all night (hey! thats an old 50s song!). I will get to sleep over Christmas break…which is so close now.

We have our first marital counseling session Friday- I’m really excited. Tyler’s pastor, Bro. Ronnie, who is marrying us, is so nice and full of wisdom. He is a great communicator of the word of God. And I feel like he really values and understands communication- so I like him even more!

This weekend is my shower at OBU. I can’t wait to see my friends and spend some time with them. Its weird not being with them all the time, and to think that season of my life where I had close friends within an arms reach 24/7 is over. I miss those girls. I hope people come to my shower. Its kind of like being a kid and wondering if people will show up to your birthday party.

Well, I must get ready for my loooooong Wednesday. Teaching, office hours, quant homework, class, teaching, 3 hour class, going to see Tyler (weather permitting).

At least we will FINALLY be turning in our huge quant paper today. What a burden to turn it in….praying for an A!
