Sesame Street Second Birthday

Sesame Street Second Birthday

I always love recapping the details of a party because I find other’s posts online SO HELPFUL when looking for ideas.  I mean, this party is far from “Pinterest worthy” but it was fun and (I think) looked cute!

I had initially bought these banners to hang, but we were not allowed to attach anything to the walls or ceilings, so I mounted them on cardboard and we propped them up against the walls.

We served food- in this picture: hot dogs (Mr. Hooper’s Hot Dogs), goldfish (Dorothy’s goldfish), and pasta salad (Mr. Noodle’s pasta salad).  You can also kind of see the ducky straw cups I got from Oriental Trading.  They were a hit with the kids and adults alike.

We have favors that were finger paint pouches and sunglasses.  The tag said: This party was brought to you by the letter R and the number 2! Hope you had fun! Thank you for coming!

I made Rubber Ducky Punch- blue raspberry Hawaiian punch and Sprite topped with marshmallows for the bubbles!

I took a plastic pumpkin from Michael’s and sprayed it with primer and blue spray paint…glued on styrofoam balls and black paper circles and we had a Cookie Monster!  The kids loved grabbing cookies out of his mouth.

I made Monster fruit, veggie and cheese trays.  They were a little prettier before the drive to town…

I made Bert out of pineapple, blackberries and a clementine.  His eyes are yogurt and blueberries

Big Bird was cheese cubes, carrots and ranch with olives for eyes.

And Elmo was strawberries, a clementine and blueberries with yogurt and blueberry eyes.  (his blueberries got a little crazy on the drive!)

This was our fun display!  I got the personalized sign from Zulily months ago.   The paper cut outs on sticks were from Etsy.

I had this banner made from Vistaprint and it was perfect for our cupcakes.  We just did rainbow cupcakes with Sesame Street picks I found on Amazon.

These paper lanterns were meant to be hung, but we couldn’t hang anything in our room.  So I cut off the strings and glued them to a piece of plastic for the base.

And the felt balls were from months ago. Again, I wanted to hang them, but couldn’t, so they made cute table decorations.

This was our entire set up.  The red bucket is full of water bottles on ice.

The gifts went on the same table as the favors and I moved a chair over there for Remi to open gifts.

It was so fun and perfect for our sweet two year old!

Weekend Recap: Church Baby Shower

Weekend Recap: Church Baby Shower

We had another great weekend- but this one was mostly focused on baby girl. Friday night we spent some time together and then Saturday we headed to the hospital for the birth class.

I’ll be honest, it was a bit of a waste of time and SUPER traumatic (I didn’t need to see the ultra-graphic C-section video!!!)….but whatever. We did it.

Saturday evening, Tyler worked overtime and I hung out with my friend Rachel. It was great to catch up and visit.

Sunday was the big exclamation point on the weekend- my final baby shower! This was a church shower hosted by my life group and several other sweet ladies.

It was wonderful.

It was the biggest shower I’ve had simply because there were so many people invited.

They did a sweet job of keeping food diabetic friendly- in fact, there was no cake! 🙂

It was a mix of cute circus decor and sweet baby girl pink. LOVE.

The food and decor table in the back….

Rachel made such a cute wrap for the sign in podium. I ADORE that elephant fabric!

My friend Christina made a fruit baby! How cute is that?  And the animal crackers and peanuts? I died.

They also made me a punch alternative with some fruit infused water. Yum!

The veggies took on a cute flower shape…

And they used this ferris wheel to hold sliced veggies!

This wasn’t all the hostesses (some had already left and a couple couldn’t be there) SO thankful for these ladies in my life!

The gifts were SO fun. It was hilarious to see what people gave me based on MY personality- lots of animal print, ruffles, and ADORABLE shoes.

In fact, one of my friends moms told me she wasn’t giving me anything practical. And I DIED when I saw these Michael Kors baby sneakers in the bottom of her gift bag. Y’all.  They are gold and white. And perfection.

The room kept “awe…..”ing at everything cute I pulled out.  I’m SO grateful for the practical gifts (bath stuff, diapers, pacifiers) but we got some amazing things. A handmade quilt, a handmade gorgeous stroller blanket, TONS of clothes, a sweet cross to hang in her room….so many thoughtful things.

I also had lots of helpers. Rachel took care of moving the opened gifts and trash, Amy took notes, and sweet Aubrey helped us bring gifts from the table.

I’m in awe of the community I have. Women who are already cheering me on toward motherhood. Celebrating and praying for this sweet baby. It’s such a blessing that I never want to take for granted.

I hope you had a great weekend as well!

Weekend Recap: Work Baby Shower and Nursery Time

Weekend Recap: Work Baby Shower and Nursery Time

What a great weekend! (I know I say that a lot, but it takes a lot of not-great to ruin two days with my people off of work!).

When I walked into work Friday, I saw this ADORABLE set up waiting for our work shower. I wish I had gotten a pic of the table covered in gifts, but I mean, how stinking cute is this carnival table?

My coworkers don’t do anything small. We are GO BIG people. So this baby shower was no exception. Following the carnival theme, we had homemade cotton candy. Mark was spinning it up!

We had a great lunch with fun carnival foods and then opened gifts. After working for 4 years with most of these people, they know me. Got lots of practical things, but also some sequined bows. 🙂

So thankful for them, and to have another group of people anxiously awaiting baby girl’s arrival!

Friday evening, we were hanging out in the nursery doing a few things, and the dogs were trying to claim their spot on the glider. I forsee a very full lap soon- baby and two dogs!

Saturday I took Pip to the vet (poor bear has an allergy and won’t leave his paws alone!) and then we hung out at home doing laundry and such.

Saturday night, I went and walked around the mall with Tyler as he patroled during overtime. It’s nice that he has a job where I can spend a little time with him.  I just have to understand that we can’t always talk (when he’s watching a situation closely) and that sometimes he has to go handle things…but it’s great to be together!

Sunday morning, Mikey rolled in SOMETHING that stunk. So he got a bath before church for sure! Ick!

We did church and then some family downtime. Much needed rest. I’m more tired every day!

Weekend Recap: Baby Showers Round 1

Weekend Recap: Baby Showers Round 1

We had a full weekend where I felt SO loved.

We started by taking the day off Friday to go to Tulsa for a breakfast with Tyler’s family.  They do this breakfast once a month, but I have never been since I work on Fridays. However, this month, they were honoring us with a baby shower…so I took the day.

We were up early to head to T-Town and got to the restaurant and were greeted by these ADORABLE cupcakes. I LOVE that they gave Tyler his own police and gun cupcake!

They set out a cute spread for us (and a birthday cupcake for 88 year old Aunt Natha Dean’s birthday!).

After breakfast and after Aunt Natha Dean had her birthday singing, we opened gifts. It was SO fun to be in a room full of these sweet people. They’ve loved Tyler all his life, but they’ve taken me right in. I get hugs and love from them each time I see them. (I also joked that I’m glad this wasn’t a wedding shower because at least after being around for 6 years of marriage I know who they are!)IMG_3199

Several of them blessed us with things just for Tyler- OU baby outfits and this adorable camo and pink onesie! He was a little excited!

These are the sweet family members who threw the shower for us (minus Marcia, who already left before we got the camera out!). Anita, Candace and Jen have always been SO sweet to me.  Anita is Nancy’s cousin, and Jen and Candace are her girls. It’s wonderful to have so many people excited to love on our sweet baby.

And I was also so glad that they love on my momma now too- they always invite her and are so kind to her.IMG_3204

Saturday, I ran around with mom a bit and then dad’s friends came into town to visit him. It was SO great to see him laugh with these guys. They are men who have been in his life for a long time and they have so many memories.

We also went up to NWA to see comedian Kevin Hart. He was off color and a bit dirty, but SO funny.

Sunday, my sweet friend Brandy threw me a shower for Zumba friends (and some family too!). It was such a sweet time.

They did a circus theme and it was adorable!IMG_3208

Brandy’s friend made this cake! It was ADORABLE and so yummy!IMG_3211

Tyler worked on Sunday but was able to come by for a few minutes since it was in town. The shower was during his normal paperwork time, so he just did his paperwork afterwards.IMG_3215

He was HILARIOUS. We played a game where the word “Aw” was off limits. So he kept trying to get people to say it when we opened gifts!

My aunt and grandma got him this onesie. It says “My Hero wears a badge. I call him Daddy”  I loved that he was there with his uniform on!IMG_3223

My cousin Caitlyn, grandma and aunt came up to the shower and it was so special.IMG_3225

I’m so thankful for Brandy, Miranda, Sheila and Mary who helped throw this shower for me! It was such a blessing!IMG_3230

How was your weekend?
