Week 7 Highlights

Week 7 Highlights

In case you’re wondering how long I plan on doing these weekly updates, well, probably for the first year. 🙂 I mean, I kept track of her growing in my belly every week.  Why not keep up with her growing with us?

We had a great week.  Since she’s gotten a little bigger, she’s chilled out some. I guess she’s figuring out the world/reflux is getting better/we are being more diligent in MAKING her nap (she doesn’t love to nap). But the combo of it all, she’s such a joy.

I mean, we always loved her, but it’s so much more fun to be around an easy baby. We’ve had NO nighttime fussy witching hour this week, and almost no crying unless she was dirty or hungry. Win!

On Saturday, we got fancy and went to a baby shower for our friend Brooke.  She’s been praying a long time for a baby, and we were THRILLED to celebrate Remi’s new friend Myla!  We can’t wait to meet her!

It was Remi’s first time in 0-3 clothing. I had to pin the pants….but she looked SO BIG.

She fell asleep at the end of the shower, so we drove to town and she napped at Target. FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF. I walked laps around the store (and bought more than I should have!).img_0928

She’s the happiest kid in the mornings. We love reading books and playing. She LOVES her changing table and looking at the lion on the wall. LOVE this happy girl!img_0953

We took a GREAT nap one afternoon together. Tyler got home and snapped this pic. I have a lot of pics of him and her napping, but no one is usually home when we do it. So I liked having him take this picture of us. 🙂img_0963

This was SUPER special. Mom and I were out and about and had some time, so we took Remi to meet dad. Dad transferred nursing homes, and he is THRIVING at this new place. He’s feeding himself, doing therapy, and has calmed down a lot.

He understood this was his grandbaby. It was so sweet. He patted her belly the whole time he held her. He thinks she’s a boy, but says she’s a good boy. 🙂

So special.img_0957

We put up our tree (thanks to some Grammy help so mama could work!) and this girl LOVES the lights on the tree.  I moved the swing in front of the tree so she could look and she is so happy there.

{pic is sideways…can’t fight with technology right now} We went to see Moana with my family while they were in town. I LOVE Disney and Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the music.

I put her in the Ergo and she slept through the whole movie! Win!

That was Remi’s 7th week! Another great one!

One Month Old!

One Month Old!

Our girl is one month old! I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone by!

Some stats: At her last doctor’s appointment, she was 7 lb. 14 oz. and still 20.5 inches long.  I think we are more at 8.5 pounds or so now.

She started out in premie clothes, but she is now solidly in newborn clothing. She also just moved up to size 1 diapers.

She’s eating 3 oz bottles like a champ every 3 or so hours during the day. She sleeps 3-5 hour stretches at night!

About 2/3 of the time, if we put her down to sleep when she’s drowsy, she will fall asleep on her own.

Some Remington facts: She LOVES rattles. If it makes noise, it’s great.

She loves the dogs. She likes when they are near her.

She HATES when her paci falls out.

Being bounced is her favorite, so I just got us a bouncer to try.

She sleeps well at night but daytime naps are short and we have to work for them.

She toots like a grown man.

She doesn’t love putting clothes on or riding in her car seat all the time.

Her favorite song is “My Shot” from the Hamilton Mixtape. She calms right down.

She hasn’t loved the baby carrier. I’m hoping that changes soon.

She sleeps swaddled in the bedside cosleeper by our bed and does great most nights. Her favorite setting on the sound machine is “Summer Nights” with the crickets chirping.

Right before she falls asleep, we get the sweetest smiles and a little bird chirp. It’s awesome.

She HATES the two minutes it takes to warm up a bottle.

She’s starting to smile back and respond to us.

Her nicknames include pumpkin, punkin head, princess poopy pants, Remi Roo, and big girl.

When she gets mad in her car seat, a paci and holding mama’s hands helps a lot.

She currently has her daddy’s hairline.

Her reflux is SO much better, but not gone. She has some sensitive skin bumps, but they don’t seem to bother her.

She loves bath time and tummy time.

The most common thing strangers say about her is that she’s so wide-eyed and alert.

I can’t believe she’s ours! She may be a bit spirited at times, but she’s the best thing we’ve done. I can’t wait to watch her grow. Momma is adjusting to these new hormones, new human to take care of, new routine and we’ve had some tough days…but it’s getting better. We are figuring this life thing out together.

Happy one month, baby girl!

Little Things

Little Things

There are a few little things that I don’t want to forget.

First, your grasping is in full force. You’re pulling my hair, holding our fingers (which is very soothing to you, apparently, when you’re pissed in your car seat), and my fave- holding onto my shirt when you’re snuggling. Love that tiny hand.

You sleep GREAT in your crib for naps. I’m not ready to leave you there all the time (and we’ve tossed around the idea of moving it into our bedroom instead of the bedside co-sleeper) but you look SO TINY in that big crib. I know one day you’ll fill it out, but I want to remember this Remirito all swaddled up in that big crib.img_0601

You LOVE looking around. I ordered this mobile that I can move around- and it plays music and spins. You love watching it.

You’ve worn a few bows when we’ve gone out. You don’t seem to mind them (although your daddy thinks they are cutting off circulation to your head! If they fall off or we have to take them off- like at the doctor- he won’t put them back on. sigh.) But  you were grasping your headband and ti was precious. Why is everything so cute? Enjoy it while it lasts, kid.

Those are a few special moments that we’ve had. I’m sure there will be plenty more!

Week 4 Highlights

Week 4 Highlights

What?! At the end of this week, you’ll be 4 weeks old?! That’s crazy. Completely crazy.

But we are having fun (most of the time!)

Here’s some highlights from week 4.

Your belly button is all healed up- and completely adorable if I do say so myself.

You’re totally into anything that makes noise. On your playmat, the blue racoon rattles, and it’s your jam when you lay there to play. If I rattle it, you turn your little head to see it. LOVE. I hope you’re musical like me!

You’re having a bunch of poopsplosions. I think it’s time to move up to the next diaper size, but we are trying to use up the rest of these newborn diapers. I was cleaning a pooptastrophe that happened while you were swinging. I turned on the aquarium lights in your crib and you LOVED looking at it. LOTS of excited arms and cooing at the fishes. img_0692

I rocked you one morning while you slept late. Your cheeks are filling out and you looked so freaking cute.

Your Halloween outfit made an appearance on Saturday (a few days before Halloween). We went to Poteau to shop and have lunch with your Grammy, Gigi and cousins. They all thought you looked ADORABLE. You did great while we shopped, but fussed some at lunch. Good thing you’re cute.

We’ve been using the soft Sophie the Giraffe to entertain you during diaper changes and such. I let you hold it during some Rock and Play time- and it was so cute how you just held onto it! I hope you like little lovies.img_0636

On Halloween, you had a onesie that said “My First Halloween,” but I was fond of your pumpkin butt.img_0652

One day last week, you had been napping all day, and it was SO nice outside (thanks crazy fall weather!) so we went to Sonic, took a drink to your “Auntie” Rachel at church, and then we walked the trail. You konked out during our walk, so I got to spend 30 minutes enjoying the beautiful day…and then you stayed asleep so we went to Walmart. A GREAT afternoon for mom.

And just for good measure, another “Pippin loves tummy time” pic. I can’t wait for y’all to be besties.
