Weekend Trip to Hot Springs

Weekend Trip to Hot Springs

We made a little road trip this weekend down to Hot Springs. We had some celebrating to do!

My bestie Alden was having a baby shower for her sweet baby due in a couple months. So we trekked to Central AR to celebrate. I loved this picture of Remi when she realized Alden was someone new holding her. So sweet.

After the shower, we headed to Hot Springs to see the family. We were coming for a surprise party for my Nene (my grandma). She was turning 70 and her sweet boyfriend had planned a big party.

She was indeed surprised! (And side note: Poor Remington was SO scared by the “Surprise!” yell. She was with Aunt Sandy during the yell and started like hyperventilating crying after. We had to go outside and sing some songs before she calmed down. Sweet baby. She was also scared by the air dryer and toilet flushing this trip. Apparently loud noises are bad now.)

She was so cute with her big cake.

4 generations (and one cranky baby because it was getting late)

And Uncle Neil got to come to the party. We were glad to see him!

Cousin Luke finally held Remi! He had been afraid to, but I think now that she’s bigger and less fragile he finally did.

And I let her chew on a spoon. You do what you gotta do.

Sweet girl had her first night in a hotel and did GREAT. Slept just like she does at home (up once in the night…she’s been either sleeping through or up once). She woke up SUPER happy.

We went down to the pool for her first swim! You gotta teach them all about hotel stays. We jumped on the bed and swam in the pool.

(So many pics of this weekend she’s pulling on that ear….calling the doctor worried about another ear infection)

Sweet flamingo girl! Her Aunt Sandy bought her this adorable swimsuit!

We went downtown for breakfast and met up with the fam. And since she wasn’t getting tired, we got a good pic with Nene.

She LOVED being outside walking around downtown. So happy at the sights and sounds.

She slept the entire way home- we wore her out! Thankful for a little travel buddy!

Week 23 Highlights

Week 23 Highlights

Oh my goodness, time is zooooooming by!

She’s just the happiest, most alert baby girl and we LOVE showing her the world and watching her learn.

She finally had great head control and could try the Bumbo.  So many people put their babies in them too early.  My pediatric therapy friends (and a OT blog I read) warned of Bumbo time too early….so we have put it off. But man, did she enjoy having a table top! She also ate dinner in the Bumbo this night.

Speaking of sitting, she’s working so hard at it! Still a little tripod with her hands down, but she is trying to sit like a big girl.

Monday night was our 7th anniversary. We went bowling and got sushi to go. It was fun and perfect, and Remi girl LOVED all the lights, TVs and sounds.

Sweet thing slept during choir practice. The choir and orchestra are SO loud, and I sing high 1st soprano, so I couldn’t believe she was asleep the whole time.

Week 22 Highlights

Week 22 Highlights

This week seemed to zoom by in a flash. I’m in Easter choir and there are extra rehearsals, so I’ve been gone extra for rehearsals. That makes our time together even more special.

Saturday evening, we did a little bathtub swimming. Since Ty was working on his truck, it was just me and Remi. I usually put on a swimsuit and get in with her, but since I was solo, I stayed out.

She doesn’t smile much while swimming, but she splashes and kicks around, so I know she likes it.

We got into the toy box and added some new toys to our rotation, including this “purse” I bought her. It crinkles, has some key chewers and even a little crinkly money attached. It’s adorable. She held onto her purse while we “shopped” at lunch.

She wore some SUPER CUTE Ric Rac and Ruffles to church! Everyone loved this outfit!

We spent some time at Grandpa’s over the weekend. She was the center of attention. Tyler’s cousin Kelsey is holding her, and Nancy, Grandpa and Uncle Dwight are all gathered around.

Great grandpa and his girl. Precious.

So that was week 22! So much fun happening around here!

This happy girl is 5 months old! She had a check-up for her ear infection, so we got to weigh her. She weighs 15 lbs., 1 oz. I’m not totally sure of her length…I attempted to measure her at home and it was 25 inches.

She’s wearing size 2 diapers, 3-6 month clothing, and drinks 5 ounces at a time now! She is eating 4 tablespoons of cereal at night (probably 3-4 nights a week) and drinks around 6 bottles a day.

She is sleeping AWESOME. She is now sleeping through the night without any wakeups! We did a little sleep training to get her to fall asleep on her own without a paci and it’s been great. She sleeps 11-12 hours straight.

Still no teeth, but always lots of drool and chewing. I could have SWORN her bottom teeth were about to break through, but now don’t seem swollen at hard on her gums at all. Who knows?

She’s smiley and happy and bright eyed. Strangers always comment on her alertness.

She had her first time with a “babysitter” (it was her cousin, but it was the first time not with mom, dad, or a grandma) and she did GREAT.

Her first sickness was this month- an ear infection. It was tough with her fever and she was miserable (and sweet baby tried to play and be happy), but I’m thankful she takes medicine well and got over it quickly.

She talks ALL THE TIME. Lots of babbling and talking- in the car, in the crib, when we play, when she eats.

She lover her toys, especially the green oball, the jingle bell rattle, the dolly, and her pony.

She loves being outside. Walks are great for her- lots to look at and so many things to see!

She loves the jumper. She really gets going in there. It’s a saving grace to cook and eat while she plays. She also still loves tummy time and has quit rolling out of it because she doesn’t seem to mind it at all.

She is quick to giggle at lots of things. It’s so fun to make her laugh.

My favorite thing is she has a few really long hairs on the top of her head! It’s so sweet! I don’t want to cut them.

Here’s to five months of fun with this baby girl!

Remington, you’ve taught me more about grace, selflessness and love in these last 5 months. I’m so glad you’re ours. We love you and your sweet giggle more than anything.
