Turkey Day 2018!

Turkey Day 2018!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Remi had a bit of a bug all week, but inbetween some bouts of not feeling great, she was a happy, easy kid.

Our family came up from Hot Springs Wednesday evening, so we got lots of time with our people. (Sadly, Tyler’s grandpa was in the hospital, so Nancy was gone for most of it).

Remi got LOTS of cousin play time. She loves her KK, Gavvy and Luke! They colored, played Play Doh, and watched movies.

This year, I decided to try something new with the turkey. I used Alton Brown’s roast turkey brine and roasting method and it was GOOD. Everyone loved it- and I think I’m the new turkey cook.

Remi liked watching them carve the turkey and the was ready to EAT EAT.

We had a great meal and then Carl (my Nene’s boyfriend) made us balloon animals. Remi is still talking about all the dogs and swords Carl made for her!

She’s a lucky little girl to have her great grandma in her life!

After the meal, our family headed back to Hot Springs (well, Nene and Carl stayed the night) and we helped put up Mimi’s Christmas tree!

We are so thankful for all of our blessings! For God’s love, for family, for our health, our jobs, our home, our friends, for great teachers for Remi- it was a season of thankfulness for sure!

Thanksgiving with Papa

Thanksgiving with Papa

We had our annual Thanksgiving dinner at my dad’s nursing home (if you’re new here, dad is pretty advanced with Alzhiemer’s.  And for what it’s worth, he’s 30 years older than my mom….people get confused when they see them together).

His nursing home does a GREAT job with these family nights. The food is actually good and they do sweet decorations and even give Remi a sweet toy!

Remi was looking SO BIG wearing last year’s Thanksgiving outfit.

She loves to see Papa and just runs around the nursing home. She goes on parade, waving at all the people. It’s so fun.

Dad started out pretty sleepy but ended up eating well and laughing at Remi while she sat with him and danced and giggled.

Papa got LOTS of hugs from this sweet girl.

And for comparison sake, here is our little turkey last year and this year. SO big!

Thanksgiving Celebrations

Thanksgiving Celebrations

Thanksgiving was peaceful and quiet. We spent the main day at home- playing, cooking and eating. It wasn’t the usual huge family celebrations, but it was fun.

This little turkey stole the show.

I ended up not having to cook a lot because I had made food for the weekend before for a Friendsgiving, but had to cancel it because I got strep throat. So I threw all the food in the freezer and we made it for Thanksgiving.

We did make a turkey. And the moms carved it up!

We started eating while she was still napping, but woke up when everybody went back for seconds and joined the meal. She was SO happy.

She played with all of her favorite people.  Grandpa….

Dada and momma….

And Grammy and Gigi.

The next day, Tyler’s family came over for a fun brunch. The weather was GORGEOUS so we moved tables and chairs outside and had a picnic.

Yummy breakfast food the day after Thanksgiving was a hit.

Uncle Dwight took Remi on a 4 wheeler ride. She LOVED it.

After the meal, she took a nap. And we went shooting at the pond. We blew up the Halloween pumpkins.

After nap, we went to Oklahoma to see more family.  Look at this sweet girl with Uncle Joe. Melt my heart.

And that night, we broke out the Christmas pajamas!

Hope you all had a great turkey day as well!

Thanksgiving 2016

Thanksgiving 2016

It’s so special to experience these holidays with Remington. I know she has no idea what is happening, but we are starting family traditions and it’s so fun.

We usually do Thanksgiving at my mom’s…but the family was staying in Hot Springs, so it was just us. So we headed to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving with Tyler’s family.

Before we left, we took a pic all together. That girl and her poses already!

Me and my girl. She stayed in the Ergo during the meal which was great to eat with both hands. ha!

She got passed around all the cousins and aunts and uncles.

We had 4 generations there! Uncle Joe smoked a brisket and everyone brought dishes. There was SO MUCH FOOD. So fun to visit with family from all over.

We also spent a little time hanging at grandpa’s and he got to hold his girl, too.

Tyler worked Black Friday at Walmart for overtime, so we got a nap on the couch after we got home. It was great! I love snuggling with my girl!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, too!
