Thanksgiving Celebrations

Thanksgiving Celebrations

Thanksgiving was peaceful and quiet. We spent the main day at home- playing, cooking and eating. It wasn’t the usual huge family celebrations, but it was fun.

This little turkey stole the show.

I ended up not having to cook a lot because I had made food for the weekend before for a Friendsgiving, but had to cancel it because I got strep throat. So I threw all the food in the freezer and we made it for Thanksgiving.

We did make a turkey. And the moms carved it up!

We started eating while she was still napping, but woke up when everybody went back for seconds and joined the meal. She was SO happy.

She played with all of her favorite people.  Grandpa….

Dada and momma….

And Grammy and Gigi.

The next day, Tyler’s family came over for a fun brunch. The weather was GORGEOUS so we moved tables and chairs outside and had a picnic.

Yummy breakfast food the day after Thanksgiving was a hit.

Uncle Dwight took Remi on a 4 wheeler ride. She LOVED it.

After the meal, she took a nap. And we went shooting at the pond. We blew up the Halloween pumpkins.

After nap, we went to Oklahoma to see more family.  Look at this sweet girl with Uncle Joe. Melt my heart.

And that night, we broke out the Christmas pajamas!

Hope you all had a great turkey day as well!

Thanksgiving 2016

Thanksgiving 2016

It’s so special to experience these holidays with Remington. I know she has no idea what is happening, but we are starting family traditions and it’s so fun.

We usually do Thanksgiving at my mom’s…but the family was staying in Hot Springs, so it was just us. So we headed to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving with Tyler’s family.

Before we left, we took a pic all together. That girl and her poses already!

Me and my girl. She stayed in the Ergo during the meal which was great to eat with both hands. ha!

She got passed around all the cousins and aunts and uncles.

We had 4 generations there! Uncle Joe smoked a brisket and everyone brought dishes. There was SO MUCH FOOD. So fun to visit with family from all over.

We also spent a little time hanging at grandpa’s and he got to hold his girl, too.

Tyler worked Black Friday at Walmart for overtime, so we got a nap on the couch after we got home. It was great! I love snuggling with my girl!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, too!

Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend.  Lots of downtown (read: naps!), lots of good food, and family time.

When I got off work Wednesday, we did most of the side dish cooking at mom’s.  It went pretty quickly (we are pretty efficient in the kitchen!) and then we all ate dinner and watched Pitch Perfect 2 together.

On Thanksgiving, we got up, did the rest of the cooking at mom’s, and then I came home to finish the ham.  I always make Alton Brown’s City Ham and everyone LOVES it.

We had quite the spread.  It wasn’t the same without Gram standing over everything and picking bites as we finished the food…but we had a good time together.

I had some stick-on mustaches, so of course, we had some fun with those.  Gavin is getting so big!  His voice is getting lower and my little Finding Nemo watching buddy is becoming a big kid!

After the meal, we all gathered around to play Bingo.

We used pennies to mark the spots…which was funny because Dad kept thinking we were betting!

Tyler had to go in to work an overtime job as security at Walmart….but I managed to sneak a picture before he left. 🙂

I as SO excited that my Uncle Neil got to come.  We finally got a wheelchair van for him- so he was able to come visit for the holiday.

Caitlyn ended up staying with mom for the weekend, so we got to go have a little fun.  On Friday, we all went to Movie Lounge to see Maze Runner Scorch Trails.  I love having a cocktail during the movie! ha!

Tyler worked overtime at the mall Friday night, so me and the boys did some couch snuggling.

Saturday, we did some shopping and then met up with Tyler after work for bowling!  People have always said Caitlyn is my mini-me! I love it!

On Sunday we put up mom’s Christmas tree and watched a movie.  Ours is going up this week!

I hope you had a great weekend.  What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish?  This year mine was the mac and cheese!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving Weekend

Not gonna lie…this was an odd holiday weekend.  With Tyler working now (and working third shift overnight), he was missing for a lot of the celebrations.  I did love my time with the family….and he and I still got lots of fun time together….but it felt different.

On Thanksgiving, we had all the family together at mom’s for a feast.  My grandpa used to carve the turkey…and after he died…we always struggled to carve it.  My grandma started dating this great guy, Carl, and he carves our turkey for us!  Little blessings!

Tyler had to eat Thanksgiving dinner late once he woke up.  Then we played some games before he had to go in to work.  We love Rummikub and had a fun time playing it.

On Friday, I got up around 8 or so (once Tyler got home) and then got ready and did some shopping.  I got some good deals and helped mom by doing some of her shopping too.

I also took the dogs for a walk, which wore them out.  ha!

Saturday, I helped mom put up her tree, did some cleaning, Tyler and I had a date night (holla!) and we did some shopping together.  He needed some winter gear that was solid black so he can wear it on duty.

Sunday the weather was GORGEOUS (like 70+ degrees on the last day of November!!) so I made sure to take the pups for a walk and let them play in the yard after.

Tyler played Ultimate with some friends and set up a hunting blind….so me and the boys did some cleaning/cooking/TV watching. It was a great weekend….even if nothing too adventurous happened.  I’m getting used to this new normal with Tyler working overnight and missing some important stuff.  It’s worth it because I know he’s doing what God has called him to do…and I wouldn’t want him anywhere else besides right in the will of God!  So I’m just having to get used to the changes.

How was your Thanksgiving?
