Honeymoon Chapter 7

On this day, we got up early to go on a snorkel cruise to Molokini Crater. We had breakfast on the boat. I am not naked in this photo, I have on a strapless swimsuit.
The water was a little rough, but it was beautiful there!

We saw an eel! I found it in the water! I was so proud to spot it!
Us in the water before swimming over to the reef shelf where the water drops off.
This is Hawaii’s state fish…the humuhumunukunukuapuaa. It was pretty!
This is Molokini Crater as we were driving off. We had a BBQ lunch on the boat before we left.
We got home and sat on our lanai and saw a bunch of whales!
And we saw this gorgeous sunset!
And I grilled out for dinner…yum.
Steaks and grilled veggies. yum yum yum!

Honeymoon Chapter 6

On this day, we got up early to eat breakfast then head up Haleakala Crater. We went to a breakfast spot close to our condo (by the rental movie place, so we returned our movies and got some grub). I got a HUGE veggie omelet…And Tyler got his favorite meal of the trip, this GIANT breakfast burrito. It had eggs, beans, cheese, veggies, and more inside. He liked it so much, we went back another morning.
Then we started our trip to the summit. Its about a 3 hour drive from where we were, but we took our time and stopped at all the lookouts, so it took about 3.5 hours. We were so high up! Above the clouds! The road was so curvy, it kept just doubling back over itself. But it was a nice drive, and I had a good driver.
We were up at the summit….over 10,000 feet high! It was so barren up there, but it was beautiful.
This was inside the crater basin. So neat!
Above the clouds!
Then we came back down and went to a luau for dinner at the Sheraton. It was the Kaanapali Black Rock Luau. The sunset was beautiful.
The food was wonderful! It was the kalua pork, cooked underground, Terriyaki steak, fried rice, salads, and yummy desserts.
I got to get onstage and learn to hula.
Professional hula dancers
Tyler got onstage too! They asked for all the newlywed guys to come “get a gift for their wife” The gift was the gift of hula! haha…It was so fun!
They also had a fire twirler! It was great!

It was a fantastic Hawaiian day! I loved the summit of the crater and the luau was one of our favorite meals, the atmosphere was great!

Honeymoon Chapter 5

On Wednesday, we still had our itch from the snorkel bug, so we headed to another spot they recommended at the snorkel place, Napili Bay. It was close to our condo, and gorgeous.
We saw another long skinny fish. Tyler loved these guys!
These fish were pretty too

These angel fish (I think?) were all over and so fun to watch! They swam really fast!We then had a close call with our whale watching tour. See, Tyler snorkeled with the car keys in his pocket, and somewhere in the rough surf (which there was quite a bit of in this bay), they came out. Luckily, we got a spare in a little over an hour (and $105 later!), and we made it to our whale watching cruise!
We saw a pod of spinner dolphins! They said they rarely see them!

Then the whales starting jumping, or breaching as they call it. We saw SOOO MANY whales. Two groups of mother/child whales and then a whole group….and they were all being really active and jumping and splashing. It was amazing. Dream come true to see that.

This is us on the boat. Wind in our hair…. 🙂

We wandered around downtown Lahaina and saw Banyan Tree Park. One tree that is a whole city block!
All week, we saw a sign for 1/2 price sushi from 3-6 at a little place on the end of Front Street, Canoe’s. We left the boat and downtown at 3:30 and gave it a try. I had a Mai Tai (it WAS Happy Hour after all!) And we got sushi. We got a California Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll (which was raw…and I tried it!)…and it was sooooo good!

We ate so much sushi and were quite tired from a busy day…so we rented some movies and came back to the condo to enjoy the sunset.
We rented Up in the Air (with George Clooney…it was ok. I fell asleep at the end), but the BEST movie we watched was A Perfect Getaway. Its about honeymooners in Hawaii that get murdered. Scary! And sooo good! It was a thinker thriller, one you have to concentrate on the story and it had great twists and turns. It was fun to watch it. Our condo had a big flat screen TV and surround sound. Then in the background, we heard the waves just outside. Paradise.

Honeymoon Chapter 4

We woke up Monday morning in Hawaii, and enjoyed our banana bread from Julias and a fresh pineapple the condo gave us for breakfast on our lanai. Then we had to check in. They had this message waiting for us!
Then we rented some snorkel equipment and went to Honolua Bay, which we found the day before. It was gorgeous.
Along the path to the bay, there was this little rainforest. It looked like a scene from Avatar.
We trekked over huge rocks (its not a sand beach….its all big rocks…a little tough for me!) We got in the water.
Tyler loves to dive under while snorkeling. I stay on top of the water.
This was my favorite fish. It was so bright…like it was colored with highlighters!
Then we came home, took a nap, then got ready to go eat at Mamas Fish House for dinner. It was beautiful! Right on the water.
We took some pictures while we waited.
They gave us their prime table. Middle of the restaurant right along the windows. Star service. Then they brought us little shooters of the yummiest tomato soup!
They knew we were on our honeymoon, and brought over a lei to congratulate us! Later we got 2 scoops of homemade ice cream to celebrate on the house!
I had their signature dish…macadamia nut mahi mahi with crab and lobster stuffing. It was amazing.
Tyler had this fish stew that was curry and had coconut milk and three different kinds of fish. It was a little spicy…but really good!

Then we went back to the condo and hung out and got a good nights sleep.
