Las Vegas Day 2

Las Vegas Day 2

Our second Vegas day started with us grabbing breakfast at the hotel then heading to the outlet mall.  It was Columbus Day, so there were some great sales.  I got some Vera Bradley bags and some J Crew stuff.  Tyler hit up Puma, too.

Then we had lunch at a Korean BBQ place (which was a bit odd.  No one was in the restaurant…and you cooked your own food at your table) and headed to the Eiffel Tower at Paris.

We had tickets to go up in the tower, and we got lucky because we got up there 5 minutes before the first Bellagio fountains of the day!

When we finished looking out from the Eiffel tower, we went to Hexx Chocolate also in Paris.  They had a chocolate tour and tasting.  TBH, the tour was just a walk through the tiny kitchen and wasn’t that impressive, but the chocolate tasting was great.  We bought 5 bars to take home.10954456_864779164283_7696965086248397703_o

After Paris, we went to the hotel to change and then headed for dinner at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill.

It was our splurge meal of the trip and it was SO good.

Even though the guys at the table next to us were obnoxious (and the tables are so close together, you are basically sitting together), the food and service were GREAT.

We ordered the smoked chicken quesadilla which was a flavor EXPLOSION.

The waiter brought me a complimentary margarita, I think mostly to make up for the annoying guys next to us. It was seriously one of the best margs I’ve ever had.

For our entree, we split this GIANT steak.  22 ounches of beef.  But it was so good.  And we got a side of poblano sweet pea risotto which I am totally going to attempt to make at home.

After dinner, we had tickets to see Penn and Teller, but they were having weird technical issues and the show was cancelled.

So instead, we headed to the High Roller Observation Wheel at the LINQ.

The views from the top were amazing.

You climb into these space pods with like 10-12 other people and ride around like a ferris wheel.  It was so neat.12095306_864782587423_6801702306591917456_o

We lucked into seeing the Bellagio fountains from up there too!

After our ride, we found dessert at the LINQ at Ghiradelli- a cookie crumble sundae that was even better than it looks. 12141048_864779348913_6836075154238921236_o

We topped off our night by watching like 3 fountain shows at the Bellagio, since we had seen them from the Eiffel Tower and the High Roller.  It’s just iconic Vegas.  Loved it.

Start of Vacation: Jessica’s Wedding

Start of Vacation: Jessica’s Wedding

We got back from Las Vegas on Sunday…so I’m ready to share all of our vacation details with you!  Be prepared for a couple week’s of coverage.  I took a TON of pictures!

Back when we were planning our big Vegas Vacation and looking at the calendar, I tried to make everything work.  In October, we had my friend Jessica’s wedding, a weekend in Dallas for Hanson concerts…and we wanted to fit our vacation in there too.

The best way to make it work was to go to Dallas for Jessica’s wedding and head out to Vegas from there.  So that’s what we did!

We got up early Saturday to pick up a rental car and drove to Dallas.

We got to Arlington just in time for the wedding.  Jessica was a BEAUTIFUL bride!

We were best friends in high school and we were freshman roommates at college- so I was so happy to be there to watch her get married!

Our youth minister from high school was there too- and we had a great time catching up.  Here’s me, Jessica, and Tad (our minister).

Of course, I had to take a picture with my handsome date. 🙂

I got to see some sweet friends from college, too.  LOVED hugging their necks and hearing about life.12094748_864778430753_7427873138451255109_o

And since there were 4 of us Tri Chis at the wedding, we busted out the Tri Chi wedding song!  Since we are old now, we don’t get the chance to sing it often, but we remembered it!

After the wedding, we headed to the airport, dropped off the car, and got checked in.  We had just enough time for a quick meal at TGI Fridays while we watched the Hog game.  We landed in Vegas around 10 pm and got to our hotel in time for bed!

Coming Home

My heart was in it’s happy place this weekend- at Ouachita Baptist University.  I spent four wonderful years there making so many memories.  Homecoming is one of my favorite times of year.
We arrived in town Friday night.  We usually just stayed with my parents 45 minutes away, but since they moved, we had to get a hotel and stay in town.  So Friday evening, we had dinner at my favorite local Mexican place…and then we walked around campus.
Tyler and I had our first long talk one-on-one on campus down by the river back in 2007.  This picture was in that same spot (it’s dark, so you can’t tell…but we were in the same spot!)
Saturday morning, we headed to campus for the homecoming teas.  It was raining, so instead of being outside, they were in the conference center.  I LOVED these adorable chi cookies!
I got to meet some of my Tri Chi family…such sweet girls.  I felt SO old.   I’m pledge class 2006, and some of these girls are PC 13!
These were the only PC 06 girls I saw… so good to catch up with these friends.
I also got to visit with some girls who were a couple years ahead of me.  It’s funny – in school, it meant so much more that I was younger than it does now! ha!
It was raining, so instead of going to the OBU football game, we headed to a local sports bar to watch the OU game and the Razorback game (both were horrible losses…but at least the food and company were good).
I love these girls.  Alden, me and Megan were good friends at school (and me and Megan are Alden’s MOHs), and Mallorie is a new friend.  She just got engaged to our great friend Bryce…so now she’s one of the girls! 🙂
Between Tiger Tunes shows, we hung out on campus to see friends.  Got to see our little sis Jessie! This is three generation of Tri Chi family! 🙂
Tiger Tunes was great!  My sweet Tri Chis were “Under the Sea” and they put on a super cute show. They won 4th place!
Tyler’s club, Kappa Chi, were newsboys…and they got 2nd place.  A great show!
I had an extra special experience.  In 2006, I was a Tiger Tunes Hostess.  I got to perform in between the clubs.  It was one of my favorite college memories.
They had a Host and Hostess reunion performance, and they invited us all back on the JPAC stage.  Unreal!  I got to perform with a couple guys who were hosts with me in 2006 – Justin and Kirt.  LOVED that we could all do this together again.
It was so fun to be back on the stage with some friends at my alma mater.

We headed home today and I’ve been napping, cleaning, and food prepping this afternoon.  It’s always great to be back on campus.  So many memories and so many wonderful friends.  It was a fabulous weekend.

Weekend Recap: Pledge Sister Reunion in Dallas!

Weekend Recap: Pledge Sister Reunion in Dallas!

Originally, this weekend was supposed to be about 20 girls (from my pledge class for 40) but slowly, life got in the way and people couldn’t make it.  But I still went, and met up with a few girls and we had a BLAST!
Friday evening I drove to Dallas after work.  I got to listen to a Hanson livestream on the way there.  Thank goodness for technology.  It was so fun to listen to them answer Q&A while I drove!
I got to Jessica’s apartment and ate dinner…and we stayed up until 2 a.m. talking!  I love those girls!
Saturday, we headed to the Fort Worth Zoo.  I think the looming rain (which it only did for like 5 minutes) kept people away….so it was almost like we had the zoo to ourselves at times.
My fave was the big lion.  He started roaring as we walked away.
Jessica, Liz, and Me.  LOVE these girls.
And of course, since animal print is my favorite color, I also loved the zebra.
After the Zoo, we decided to get pedicures.  Jessica knew of an AWESOME place that served a full bar with your pedicure.  Frozen margarita and pretty toes.  It doesn’t get much better than that.
Saturday evening, we met another sister, Jamie, for dinner….did a little shopping and came back to Jessica’s apartment.  We made some wine punch (that was AMAZING), got in our PJs, and watched Pitch Perfect.  It was a great evening.
I had the best time catching up with them and was sad to go Sunday morning.  But while I wished we had more time together, I made a few stops on my way out of Dallas: Ikea, Trader Joe’s, and the Ann Taylor Factory store.  Oh man.  Those three made me want to pack up and move to Dallas ASAP.  Loved it.
I drove home, got some rest, unpacked, and went to bed early.  Too much fun for this girl.
Now onto other news…can you help a sister out?  I’m going to St. Louis this weekend for my birthday to see Hanson…and I want to launch a Twitter campaign to get them to play my favorite new song.  Can you click this link to tweet them?  I’ll be posting this daily until Friday! 🙂  Keep tweeting!
