Big Cedar Vacation: Day 2

Big Cedar Vacation: Day 2

After our fun day on the property, we decided to spend the next day at Silver Dollar City.  I LOVE this place, and I’m pretty sure everyone else does too.

I asked if we could get there before it opened, since I love the opening ceremony. And they all agreed. It was the perfect day. Weather wasn’t humid- was still semi-cool and since we beat the crowd, it was wonderful.

Our first stop was a cinnamon roll to share (a MUST!). (We also opted to rent a stroller there since with theirs, she could easily climb in and out when she wanted instead of ours where she needed to be placed in the seat)

IMG_0637

After the opening ceremony, we headed down to the kid’s area….and passed the face painting with NO LINE. So guess who got her face painted?  She was pretty excited!

IMG_0644

She’s still really timid with the rides, and I’ll admit, we may have pushed her a little too much.  But she says she likes these dogs, but she only wanted to ride it once. ha!

IMG_0641

We played around the Fireman’s Landing area until Lucky the Rescue Dog came out to greet friends…and we convinced her it was Marshall from Paw Patrol. ha!

IMG_0646

We went to the saloon show (another favorite) and Remi was LOVING it.  Clapping and enthralled with the dancers- and then daddy got called into the show! It was so fun!

IMG_5137

He was made into the judge, and it was HILARIOUS. They were feeding him lines in his ear and he was perfect.

IMG_5139

On the way out, we had to take a picture with the saloon girls.  She loved them, and they enjoyed watching her enjoy the show.

IMG_5141

We hit another ride area and then, of course, got BLUE ice cream (all things blue!)

IMG_5143

We hit up the petting zoo area (which to be honest, was a bit of a bummer with few animals….) but she liked meeting the goats.

IMG_5146

We did some other fun- playing in the schoolhouse, playing some games on the square, eating DELISH food….and then she PASSED out on the ride home (around 4 pm).  It’s WONDERFUL that she can hang now without a nap…but then she crashes.

IMG_5147

We made dinner in the condo and then we played some board games. This was the start of a tournament for us- we played a team game each night…and ultimately mom and Tyler won 2/3.

Birthday Celebration

Birthday Celebration

I had THE BEST time celebrating my birthday with friends.

Earlier in the day, I had brunch with my bestie Brandy (though we were busy eating and talking and I didn’t take any pictures).

Then that evening, “the circle” and our husbands got together for fun at Uncorked. It’s the best place to just hang with your friends- and these friends brought some fun party decorations and leis and noise makers for me! So fun!

Before we settled in to eat and drink, we took some pictures. LOVE these girls.

IMG_0524

And I love these husbands and how they put up with us (Vini wasn’t off work yet…so he missed the husband pic).

They got me a cute little glass that I used for my water all night.

IMG_0527

There was lots of selfies and snap chatting happening.

IMG_0533

Sweet Tyler. He’s exhausted from working like 180 hours over 2 weeks, but he came out and was a great sport.

IMG_0529

They told them it was my birthday and Uncorked brought me a brownie with a HUGE sparkler! I was so excited!

IMG_0543IMG_0544.JPG

We played What Do You Meme and laughed and laughed. At some point, Rachel’s shirt ripped, Tara broke a wine glass….it was shenanigans all around.

At the end of the night, we were all just so happy to have had so much fun together.

It is honestly an answered prayer to have such sweet friends, and I’m honored that they celebrated me and our friendship. Here’s to 32!

Memorial Day Weekend Part 2

Memorial Day Weekend Part 2

Sunday after naptime, we headed south to a horse camp where Tyler’s family was camped out.  My MIL Nancy goes down there with her brother, niece and some friends…and we went for the afternoon and dinner.

It was basically a nice RV park, but with horse stalls.  They ride trails during the day and cookout and enjoy RV life in the evenings.

Remi had to ride Rex, Gigi’s horse, and she waved to everyone around the camp.

IMG_0432

We also made friends with two younger kids there who were VERY excited to share their horse with Remi. They let her feed the horse a popsicle (miniature horses are known for eating just about anything…I had one growing up!).

IMG_0433

And then she rode it bareback with a little help from daddy! She’s so brave!

IMG_0434

Monday we headed over to my mom’s for breakfast with our Hot Springs family who was in town. Remi LOVES Luke, so wherever he was, that’s where she wanted to be!

IMG_0408

After breakfast we swam. The water was SO nice.

IMG_0410

Remi isn’t a normal kid- she complains about the water being too cold, so Nene helped her bundle up. I love that she knows her great grandma!

IMG_3378

We all walked down to the lake to feed the fish. Well, we walked. Remi rode her 4 wheeler down (and Gavin carried it back).

IMG_0415

I think Remi ate as much bread as she gave the fish!

IMG_0416IMG_0417

We all ate lunch together (while she entertained us with gymnastics) and then the family headed home (and we headed home to nap!).

IMG_0418

While Remi napped, I set up our hammock on the back porch and started a new book.  This one is a bit “racy” in some parts, but it’s kept me interested so far!

IMG_0420

Tyler had to work a VERY long day. Over Memorial Day weekend we got crazy flooding in our area- the Arkansas River went beyond the 500-year floodplain.  But he’s such a good daddy.  He came home and helped put Remi to bed.  This is her version of “snuggling”- we just lay halfway in her bed while she pats us on the head.

IMG_0428

(I wrote this on June 5, and at this point, Tyler is in his second week of working 12 hours every day because of the flooding.  I feel for the people whose homes were demolished, and I’m glad he’s called to help…but we miss him!)

Memorial Day Weekend Part 1

Memorial Day Weekend Part 1

We packed a LOT into Memorial Day weekend, so I have split it into two parts.

Saturday morning started off bright and early with a 5k with some coworkers. Becca and I had matching shirts made. Since we knew we weren’t going to be the fastest- they say “I run like a 90’s slow jam”

We got lots of compliments on them! (PS. My friend who made them has them for sale here).

IMG_0361

We also met up with our coworkers Daysi and Ashlyn. So fun to do this together (though Daysi and Ashlyn were faster than us!)

After the run and a quick shower, we went to brunch together. Remi was SO funny this day. She was adamant that she wanted a dish pictured on our table- it was pancakes with fruit and bacon. She didn’t care about the pancakes, but she wanted fruit and bacon and “sour cream” (which was whipped cream).  She and daddy also enjoyed coloring together.

IMG_0369

And she wore her cape to breakfast, because she’s super Remi.

IMG_0370

We stopped by the park at the dump (yes, our city dump has a fun park right outside!) and played on the equipment for a few minutes.

IMG_0372

The park is (of course) trash and recycling themed, so you can drive a trash truck and slide down a trash can. ha!

IMG_0375

She always LOVES the swings.

IMG_0377

After the park, we went to a hair appointment where I chopped off my hair! 🙂 I love the new, easier to style, short do!

IMG_0384

We spent the evening at my mom’s.  The pool water was a bit cold, but the view and the sunshine were awesome.

IMG_0388

Sunday morning, Remi got into my makeup while I showered and she gave herself a 5 o’clock shadow. ha!

IMG_0396

And we all matched in our red, white and blue and sunglasses. We had our friend Gabby take a picture in the nursery. Love it!

Part 2 coming tomorrow!
