Its been a while…

So sorry I’ve been busy with other things. But here is a short summary of what I’ve been up to.

We went to a dirt bike race….

I went to graduation at OBU to watch my best friend graduate! And the night before, I met up with several great friends and pledge sisters and we had a little fun!

And we went to Dallas to the motorcycle auction. It was crazy! So many bikes and 4wheelers, and dirt bikes, and everything else. This picture is like 1/3 of it all. I think I helped Tyler out a little bit by being there, so I’m gonna go again with him next month.

We are trying to move this week. Whew for that! Can’t wait for more space and a bigger bed! Amen!

And I started working out again with my friend Laveda. The classes we are going to are hardcore. They are kind of p90x style of body confusion. I’m sore and tired, but we are determined to work out 3-4 times a week. Let’s go.

I’m also working on transcribing interviews for a prof (gonna get carpal tunnel by the end of summer) and my research. Lots to do!

Hello summer!

I’m all done with my papers! I only have to give and grade one more final! Woohoo!

I’m currently watching Ty fix my bike. Last time we rode, my tire was low and we popped the tube. Another interesting thing happened last time we rode, I passed out.

I think it was low blood pressure, but we stopped to take breather, and I felt funny. I was trying to get off the bike, and I passed out. I got a big old handlebar to the boob, and have a huge bruise. But other than that, I’m fine. I even rode home after.

I am thankful for a handyman. We picked up a bed we bought on Craigslist, and once we got past the tension of “I don’t know how to put this dadgum thing together” we figured it out.

I also picked up and painted a table. I’ll try to remember to take pics of it soon. Its cute. Brown and lime green for the guest room.

I’m so ready to move. Only a couple weeks.

Until then, I’m just figuring out my summer plans. I’m teaching Sumer II, workin on my thesis proposal, doing transcription for a prof, and maybe tutoring. Seems like a lot, but I think I got it (and some free time too!). Hope so!

For now, I’m off to cheer on my handyman in finishing my bike. Later!

How I Met My Tyler

Kelly’s Korner is doing “How you met your husband” today for Show Us Your Life.

I made this slideshow for the wedding, and its our little love story.

To sum it up (in case you don’t want to watch a 3 minute video)…we were both at Ouachita…had similar groups of friends…ended up hanging out alot…and a spark caught on fire and we started dating.

It is kinda neat though, that neither one of us ever really wanted to go to Ouachita. Tyler had plans for OU, but his dad had an accident, and he went to UA Fort Smith for a couple years, then transferred to OBU. I wanted to go far away to Belmont in Nashville, but got full scholarship offer from OBU.

And I was chasing after another boy up until the day the spark appeared. I had a HUGE crush on another guy and was trying to get HIM to come hang out with me and my friends one night. He said no, that he had other plans, but Tyler and some other people came along….and we ended up talking, laughing, and flirting at dinner. I’m SO GLAD the other guy wasn’t interested or I would have barked up the wrong tree! Tyler is so right for me and God put us together for sure!

*There is one thing that is incorrect in the video. We started dating Dec. 1, 2007, NOT 2008. I know…I messed this up on our wedding video. Its ok. Our wedding still rocked.*

In my wallet…

Today, I was in and out of my wallet several times.

I had lunch in the Union inbetween writing sessions. (BTW, I wrote 11 pages for my paper! Yup…almost done in one day!)

I went to Kohls to buy Tyler underwear. Yup, I’m officially a wife now. I run errands to buy underwear for boys. It felt weird.

Then, something interesting happened at Target. I went to Target for a new pillow (my neck has been killing me lately) and when digging in my wallet, a shiny new penny caught my eye. Then it REALLY caught my eye.
There was a new penny with ^this on the back. I didn’t know we got new pennies. Did anyone? I googled and found out there are 5 new pennies in circulation, 4 released in 2009 looking like this:
Apparently, the 4 pennies released in 2009 chronicled Lincoln’s life (it IS his penny after all)…and the new 2010 features a union shield. “The 13 vertical stripes of the shield represent the states joined in one compact union to support the federal government, represented by the horizontal bar above. The horizontal bar features the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM—”out of many, one”—while the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is depicted along the upper rim of the coin. The union shield, which dates back to the 1780s, was used widely during the Civil War. “

Why haven’t I noticed any of the 4 pennies? I only noticed the union shield one today. Look in your wallet….did you know we had new pennies?
