Christmas Recap

We had a busy, but wonderful Christmas weekend.
It was busy because we were traveling around, but it was so great to spend time with family.
(I was so lazy and never even got my camera out…so this is just a word recap).
It all started Friday with Christmas with Tyler’s mom and dad.   We had a taco bar for dinner and then opened gifts.  Tyler got tons of RC car parts he asked for, and I got an awesome double crockpot (with 1.5 quart pots…perfect for side dishes or dips at a party), and I also got a beautiful U of A alumni sign to hang on our porch or garage.  I just love it.
Saturday morning, we got up and had breakfast and did Christmas with just the two of us.  I gave Tyler a t-shirt, a really cool custom glass set, and a new Smith and Wesson pocket knife (which he really liked!).  I got my chest freezer (which I knew about), a cute Razorback Cotton Bowl shirt, a new Razorback nalgene, and a few other goodies.
Saturday afternoon, I headed to church to sing at the Christmas Eve candlelight services. I sang at the 4 and 7 services (there was a service at 5:30, but I didn’t sing at it).  My family came up for the 4 p.m. service.  I was dressed as Mary.  My mom took this video (the start of the song is cut off).

The candlelight service is so great.  Lots of worship songs, a message about Jesus and his salvation, communion, and it ends with everyone lighting their candles and singing Silent Night.  Love it!
After the service, my family headed back to Hot Springs and I headed to my MIL’s for dinner with Tyler’s family.  We had soup, chili, homemade salsa (that is sooooo good), and we made sugar cookies.
Then we headed to church for the 7 p.m. service, I sang at worshiped with the family, then it was back to Nancy’s to open gifts.
Tyler’s family is so generous.  I got some new Fiestaware, a cute new dress, lots of fun goodies like jewelry, a Razorback muffin pan, new pjs, and much more!  We stayed there until 11 and then we headed to Hot Springs.
We got to Hot Springs at 1 and stayed up until 2 talking with mom.  We got up and had breakfast Sunday and Tyler and I opened our gifts.  Tyler got a Blu-Ray player and the Fast and Furious DVDs, and I got a new Hobo bag, and LOTS of Fiestaware!  We picked up my grandma and uncle from the rehab home and brought them to our house…where the whole family gathered to open gifts.  All the kiddos got tons of fun stuff.  It is so fun to give to others and see their excitement in opening your gifts.  After gifts, we ate a BBQ lunch and played with the kiddos.  Eventually, everyone went home and we watched “A Christmas Story” then went to bed.
Monday, we had to leave Hot Springs by 9 for me to be at work.  So just over 24 hours at home.
Even though it was a bit hurried, it was a great time with our families.  I am so thankful we have lots of people to share the season with.

Christmas Recap

We were blessed enough to celebrate three Christmases! We started Christma Eve afternoon at Tyler’s dad’s house. Tony was a sweet host and made us BBQ. We ate lunch and talked and opened gifts in his new house in Oklahoma.
We got Tony some framed wedding gifts and a really cool thing we found in Mexico.

I was excited because Tony (with the help of Nancy) got me a Periwinkle 60th anniversary Fiesta pitcher!
Then we went to Nancy’s house and ate (and ate and ate). There was quite a spread with two soups, lots of dips and snacks, and many desserts.

Then we went to Christmas Eve candlelight service at their church. Then we came home and opened gifts. Nancy went a little overboard and we all got tons of gifts. All of these gifts were for like 7 people.

Everyone was so generous! I got lots of new Fiesta (well…old Fiesta. Some Periwinkle, Apricot, and Sea Mist pieces…jumbo mugs, boullion bowls, and a clock).

We all got huge glow sticks in our stockings and played with them! These sweet girls are Tyler’s cousins Kelsey and Heather.

Nancy got us all animal print Turbie towels…

Then we spent the night at Nancys and got up early and ate breakfast, then headed to my house! We ate Christmas lunch and visited with family and opened gifts. I didn’t take a lot of pics because I was too busy hanging out with everyone. We usually open gifts oldest to youngest- and my dad can never wait his turn. He just quietly opens them during everyone else’s turn!

Luke was the sweetest gift opener. He said “Thank You” to whoever got him the gift BEFORE he ever opened it. Then he made sure his brother and sister said thank you to each gift too! “Say thank you Bubba….say thank you!”

Gavin got some cool board games and lots of wrestler stuff. He is 7 and in that phase.

And Miss Priss Caitlyn got some great gifts. This was her iPod. She really liked it, can’t you tell? She is 10.

We had a blessed holiday with family and are sad Christmas is over. I took down the decorations today while I was home hanging out. Christmas is packed up and gone….but now we can move on to some other exciting things going on in our lives right now. I’ll fill you in soon… (and NO…not pregnant! It seems like everytime I tell anyone that exciting things are happening they guess that I’m pregnant! We have lots of other exciting things going on in our lives. Just because we are newlywed doesn’t mean I’m ready to pop out children! 🙂 haha)
