Fashion Friday: A Little Birdie Told Me

Fashion Friday: A Little Birdie Told Me

I was given this dress by eShakti in exchange for a review.  All opinions are my own.

I love dresses.  They are so easy to wear.  Throw on a dress, a statement necklace, and you’re set.  And I love the versatility of dresses, too.  I love that you can layer tights, boots, a cardigan, or a blazer over a dress for a totally different look.  So when eShakti contacted me to review an item from their Spring collection, I was pretty excited.

I decided to branch out from my typical style.  I normally like more solids, but I fell in love with this adorable bird print frock.

What I LOVE about eShakti is that you can customize dresses.  For this one, I opted to remove pockets (yes, I know, a dress with pockets is great! But I prefer no pockets and added bulk), and I changed the neckline to a wide V.  I like making room for necklaces better than the scoop neck that the dress originally had.

Another great thing about eShakti is the ability to have a dress made by your measurements.  I sent them my measurements, following their guide.  I do have a couple areas that are normally weird fitting when I buy dresses, around my bust and under bust, so I added a half inch to both of those measurements to ensure I had plenty of room.  And the dress fit like a glove.

For a winter look, I styled it with navy tights (the little birds and piping are navy), navy Mary Jane heels, a royal cardigan, and a coral red necklace.

And a girl’s gotta play in the snow, amIright?IMG_1854

Once the snow started to melt and the sun came out, I wanted a springier look.  I ditched the tights and let my winter white legs show.  I added a turquoise bead necklace, a jean jacket, and nude wedges.

When it gets warmer, it will be perfect sans jacket, too.  The straps are wide enough to cover bra straps, and there are even little hooks under the shoulders to keep straps in place!

A close up of the adorable bird print.  Not something I would normally choose, but I love it!

And because this dress is full and swingy, I had to do some twirling! 🙂 And check out the cute keyhole in the back.  Also note, the sleeve holes are a great size, no bra showing there!  Untitled-1

eShakti has some great quality stuff.  Just make sure to watch your size if you’re ordering from their standard sizes.  I would order whatever size you have the biggest measurement.  Or the best idea is to custom fit – so you get a dress that fits like a glove!  They have some cuuuuute Spring stuff that would make a great Easter dress!

  2. Love that dress! I’m checking out that website on the double 🙂

    • Thanks, Mari. Check it out. I recommend the custom fitting, and measure yourself. I added about a half inch in my “trouble” areas that are usually hard to fit. It made it fit perfectly!

  3. I love how you showed various looks you can get with one adorable dress and changing just a few accessories! The custom fitting option is a big plus in my opinion and I will definitely check out eShakti.

    • Check it out, Mary! You can even do custom stuff like adding sleeves or changing necklines…it’s awesome! I love dresses because you really CAN get several looks from one dress.

  4. LOVE IT! You are adorable. And eShakti is awesome. Although I’d always put up with extra bulk for pockets. 😉 To each their own. Love how it layers with the cardigan.

    • Oh sweet Sarah….these hips don’t lie. They don’t need pocket bulk. You could pull it off, though! ha! I’m just glad they have options to make the dress your own.
