Fashion Friday- Shopping Meccas

I love to shop. I have made entire trips places just to shop. And no trip is complete without a visit to a local shopping area, whether a mall or shopping district. I wanted to post about some shopping meccas. Places I have traveled to just to shop…and they have lots of stores and variety.
*all links take you to the mall website*
The Shopping Mecca of all shopping meccas is the Mall of America. We went there when I was in 5th grade (I think?) and spent several days of my Spring Break shopping. Yes, my mom, grandma and I flew all the way to Minnesota just to shop. And it was amazing. This place is unreal big. Like 7 Yankee Stadiums could fit inside big. If you make a trip here, plan to shop for a couple days, if not more.
This is the Galleria in Dallas. This has a nice mix of upscale and “normal” stores. There is a hotel attached to this mall, which is perfect for a shopping trip, as you can shop and take breaks and go back to your room and drop off your bags.
When my mom and I went to Tanger Outlets in Foley, AL, we didn’t make the trip to shop. We went to Orange Beach for a summer vacation. But we saw a brochure for Tanger, and made the short drive over and spent a day shopping. It was great. I love outlets, as you can get name brand stuff at great prices. It is nice that it is outdoors too, as the weather is beautiful during the Spring and Summer there, so you can enjoy breaks outside on a bench in the sunshine.
Another Tanger Outlet, in Branson, MO. When I was younger, we used to take trips to Branson to shop for back to school. This outlet is a lot like the one in AL, but I’m partial to Tanger in Branson. See, we lived in Branson for a while. And Tanger was my hangout with friends, my place of retail therapy, and where we scoured for sales. I heart Tanger in Branson.

Another place we would travel to in order to do our back to school shopping was Wolfchase Galleria in Memphis, TN. This place has a nice mix of stores. It was only 3.5 hours from home growing up, which was perfect for a day trip. We would leave early in the morning, shop, then drive home with lots of new goodies! I also love that they have a carousel in the mall.
When I hit my goal weight, mom has promised me we will go to the Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, TX (just outside Dallas) to shop. I drool over this place everytime we go to Dallas, but we never have time to stop. I can not wait to go shopping here! These outlets are a little more high-end brands, but at outlet prices! You will for sure see a blog post after we spend a weekend shopping here!
Am I crazy? Do you take trips to shop? (or are my mom and I stage 5 shopaholics?) Where do you go to shop?

  1. I totally take trips to shop too. I LOVE outlets and the closest one for us is a little over 2 hours away. Not too bad in my opinion. the hubs thinks it is too far for regular trips though!
