Friday Five: Post Surgery Thoughts

Friday Five: Post Surgery Thoughts

Well, I made it through surgery.  In fact, it went pretty well.  Everyone at the hospital was SO great.  I never even cried (and I was anxious enough to cry for sure!).  I even remember as they were putting me out in the operating room, some man was rubbing my arm and soothing me…telling me it would all be ok.

The only bad part was post-surgery my heart rate was low (went down into the 40s) so they held off on pain meds for a while…so I was pretty uncomfortable until we caught up to the pain yesterday.  And then last night I had some sort of reaction to the medicine and woke up itching like CRAZY.

I know I have some tougher days still ahead as I heal and get better…but I’m so thankful that I’m doing ok.

Here are five things I’m loving this week post-surgery.

1. Online shopping.  I’ve been awake in the middle of the night, and I’ve been doing some online shopping. 🙂  I am working with an Etsy seller for some custom curtains! ha! I love these natural cotton and burlap valances.

2. Jello.  Who knew Jello was like the best food ever?! I haven’t had much of an appetite, so I’ve been living on Jello, rice, and dry Cheerios.  Mango Jello is my favorite of the moment.

3. My squishy pillow.  When I cant’ get comfy, this thing really helps.  I’m normally a side/belly sleeper…but I can’t do that right now…so this squishy is my saving grace at bedtime.

4. Marathons on TV.  Did you know that they air several episodes in a row of Project Runway during the night?  I’m thankful that if i have to be awake, there is something on TV.

5. I’m also the most thankful for people who are checking in on me.  Family, friends, bloggy buddies…everyone showing that they care actually makes me feel better.  It makes me feel so loved. 🙂

So there ya go.  This week hasn’t been the most exciting because I’ve barely left the house since surgery…but I still have things to be thankful for.  Always.

How are you this week, friends?

  1. I’m glad to hear that surgery went well!! And glad that there are plenty of shows and stores to keep you entertained while you recover! Hope you feel better soon!

  2. I love Project Runway! Have you seen this season’s “rainway” challenge?

    • No! I haven’t seen that one! I have been watching sporadically…I’ll have to keep an eye out for that..sounds interesting. The American Girl challenge was my favorite that I’ve seen so far!
