Friday Randoms

Here are my random thoughts on this Friday.

-I am so thankful for family.  Last night, my mother-in-law came over for dinner and she did the dishes afterwards.  She always does that.  I don’t ask her to, but she is so giving of her time and energy, she always helps.  That small blessing was just that: a blessing.  I am thankful that I get to see my side of the family this weekend.

-We FINALLY got my sewing table all set up in the office/craft room.  No photos yet, as the room itself is still a disaster area.  However, for two nights this week, Tyler has encouraged me to go in there and sew.  We spend our evenings after dinner usually sitting on the couch watching tv.  Nothing major.  So why not be productive with my time?  While I sew, he works on his RC cars.  Our tables and work stations are now in the same room.  And while we don’t talk much while we “craft”  it is so fun to just do the things we enjoy in the same room.  I am 90% finished with my next quilt.  I am just doing the last side of the quilt binding.

-Speaking of sewing, after my first night of sewing, I ran out of red thread and had to go to Hancock’s for more.  Well, our Hancock’s moved.  To a MUCH bigger store.  I’m thinking some Friday evening retail therapy is due there after work.  I don’t really need more fabric or anything, but I want to go browse and see all the fun new things they have.

-I have been doing SO great on my healthy eating and working out.  4 mornings this week I did weights before work.  I don’t do too much (not enough time) but hey, 5-15 minutes of strength training is better than none at all!

-I am excited to weigh in tomorrow morning.  Even if it shows no loss, I am confident in the fact that these small sacrifices I am making are making a difference.  And, I’m choosing to see this as a spiritual journey as well.  Every day I crave God a little more, and food a little less.  God is good, ya’ll.

-I got the Laura Story CD “Blessings” when I saw them in concert several weeks ago.  I brought it to work and its been sitting on my desk.  Today, I’m going to listen to it.  On repeat.  All day.  Her voice is beautiful, and I know I can’t go wrong with worship music in my ears all day!

Happiest of Fridays my dears!  I hope you have a great weekend!  See ya on Monday!

-I got a sample of Strawberry Shakeology.  I was “meh” about it.  I LOVE strawberry milk, so I was hoping that it would taste like that.  And it did.  But it was sorta chalky in texture.  Gotta decide if I can handle a whole bag of it before I switch my order from Greenberry/Chocolate combo to all Strawberry.

-My life is crazy busy.  This weekend we have a Zumba party Friday night and a Zumba training on Saturday.  Saturday evening I am going to a women’s conference thingy with my MIL.  Hopefully Sunday I can rest!

-Our anniversary is in just a couple weeks!  March 13!  The following weekend we are taking a little weekend trip to Eureka Springs!  I can hardly wait!

-I am finishing Made to Crave (a book about craving God, not food).  I also bought and have started the 60 day devotional.

-I am going to attempt to make my mornings uber productive.  My new job requires me to be at work at 7, so instead of waking at at 6, I will wake up at 5.  I don’t really mind that.  I am a morning person.  But I usually lounge around and take my time. With all that time, I should be able to get a few things done.  Hopefully: regular devotional time, a 15-30 minute workout, and getting ready.  I am going to try to fit all that in.  I have had times where I am faithful to one or the other, but I think I need both in my daily life.

-I am already worried about my first day of work outfit..and its over a week away.

-I am thinking about a black tunic and leopard belt for said outfit at this moment.

-I want Hanson to be touring now.  I could really use a live concert.  It makes the deepest parts of my being happy.  Guess youtube vids of them live will have to do.  This one is a personal favorite from their 5 of 5 tour (you are welcome Kristin!)  It was one of my favorite songs from their very first album (aka when I fell in love with Hanson).

This week has FLOWN by!
This is a good thing because I am excited about my weekend!
Tonight I’m hanging out with some ladies!  Several girls Tyler went to high school with have been SO welcoming to me!  Now I just consider them MY friends instead of Tyler’s friends!  They are having a birthday party at one of the girl’s houses tonight.  I have never met the guest of honor, but Tyler tells me that she is super sweet and I know it will be fun!  It is a brunch party so we are wearing our PJs!
Tomorrow I am prepping for our Super Bowl party.  That means I will stay in my PJS, watch whatever marathon is on TV (hopefully Top Chef or ANTM) and clean and cook.  A pretty good day!  We might go do something fun tomorrow night.  Maybe a movie?  I really want to see The Vow.  Would it be awful of me to drag my husband to see that? 🙂
And we have our party Sunday!  Woohoo!
This week I decided to eat a few more carbs.  I’m still calorie counting…but before I tried to avoid carbs at dinner.  This made me sad.  I like carbs.  I really do.  So I have been making more carbs at night and just making sure to measure out a portion and eat only that.  We had rice, pasta and crescent rolls this week…guess when Saturday rolls around we will see if it affected my weight loss or not!
Mikey was groomed Wednesday!  He looks so scrawny with all his hair gone!  He was in an extra snuggly mood and wanted to snuggle with me when he got home.  I like that.
I ordered this dress from Mod Cloth (that I had posted before) and it was SUPER CUTE!
But…it was too small.  Like felt like it was 3 sizes smaller than the tag said.  So I sent it back.
We are in serious discussion about going on a cruise next January.  My bestie really wants to go on one this summer…but summer is Tyler’s peak season.  And he asked that if I did vacay with Alden that it not be a cruise or somewhere super exciting (he doesn’t want to miss out…and I don’t blame him!).  So we looked at January cruises. The beginning of January is his slow time, so he could be gone for a week.  Well…
We found a GREAT cruise then for SUPER cheap!  We have cruised twice to Progresso/Cozumel…so we didn’t want to do that.  But there is a cruise out of New Orleans to Key West, Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas (I’ve been to Nassau and Freeport but I was much younger)…a 7 day cruise for $399!!  That is like $60 a day!  Pretty certain we are going to jump on that opportunity!
I will catch ya on the flipside of the weekend!
Who are you cheering for in the Super Bowl?  I have the Patriots in a bet against my mom!  We always bet (tradition started with my grandpa).  We don’t know what the stakes are yet…but I have the Pats!  So…go Pats! 🙂
