Getting to Know Us

I woke up early. And unfortunately for me, once I’m awake, I’m awake. So I was reading blogs and saw this on High or Low Tide and thought I would do it too!

*One quick house update: we went looking at cabinets and were blown away by the high prices at Lowe’s! WAY more than we had budgeted for, for just the kitchen cabinets. So my mom called a local cabinet maker who is known for awesome work…and he is doing our whole house (kitchen, laundry room, dining room, 2 bathrooms) for LESS than the price of the kitchen at Lowe’s. And the cabinets will be handcrafted JUST the way we want them! 🙂 YAY!*

So here is getting to know me and Tyler!

How long have you too been together? We started officially dating December 1, 2007….so 3.5 years. We have been married for 1 year and a little over a month.

How long did you know each other before you started going out? This was is a bit tricky. We knew each other from college because it was a small school. But when we did “notice” each other and start flirting…it was about 2 weeks of hanging out and getting to know each other before I became his official girlfriend.

Who asked who out? Ha! Well, I kind of came on strong. But thankfully for us, Tyler kept telling me to let him lead, and so he eventually had to be the leader. I’m just too strong willed to relinquish control easily!
(This is us driving around Oklahoma on 4wheelers a few summers ago)

Did you go to the same school? Yes. We were both at Ouachita Baptist University. I was a sophomore, and Tyler transfered in as a junior. But we didn’t start dating until I was a junior.

Who is the most sensitive? Oh me, by far. Tyler is very strong, but he is a bit of a teddy bear when he opens up. 🙂

Where do you eat out most together? Well, we do like to eat out….we go to several places. We like Chili’s and Red Lobster, Cheddars, Jason’s Deli and Fuji for sushi. I would say we eat at those places lots. I know what he would order at all those places.

Where is the furthest you’ve traveled together? We have traveled to Hawaii and to southern Mexico (on a cruise). Not sure which is farther… This is us in Hawaii!
Who has the worst temper? Well, I flare up easily. I have to “talk myself off the ledge” sometimes. But Tyler can get aggitated easily, and then he clams up. So I get visually angry, while he just holds it in.

Who does the cooking? Me! I LOVE to cook and Tyler always (well, almost always) loves what I cook. It is one way for me to love on him, to cook him yummy food!

Who is more social? I think for us, it is whoever is in their element. We are both very social, but get kinda quiet when we don’t feel comfortable. We are both very social people though.

Who is the neat freak? Neither one of us! I wish I was, but we are both ok with a little mess.

Who is the most stubborn? I think he would say me. 🙂

Who hogs the bed? I do, again. Tyler says I hog the covers. We have plenty of room with our King bed…but I am a cover thief.

Who wakes up earlier? Me again. Tyler is not a good morning person.

Where was your first date? Well, the first time we went somewhere special alone, was Burger Barn in Arkadelphia where we went to college. But the first time we hung out and started flirting….we went to PF Changs with friends, then to Target. And while shopping, Tyler put on some high heels and pranced around. I knew a man who could appreicate high heels was for me! His foot is in the black heel and mine is the purple! Its our first picture together!

How long did it take to get serious? Well, it officially took a few weeks to be boyfriend/girlfriend. But the night after we started flirting, I went home thinking this could be the one. I was pretty much in it for the long haul after that. And I think he was too! This was right after we started “dating”

Who eats more? Tyler, most definitely.

(This is us at a friend’s wedding last summer).

Who does the laundry? I do it, but we each put away our own laundry.

Who drives when you are together? 80% of the time, Tyler drives. Especially if it is bad weather or we are in heavy traffic. I drive when he gets sick of driving.

I am SOOO blessed to be his wife! I love him so much, and we often talk about how much better we are together than we could ever be apart. Yay for us! 🙂

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite wedding photos that I think sums us up pretty well…
