Hiking Falls Branch at Lake Catherine

Hiking Falls Branch at Lake Catherine

In all my years living in Hot Springs (I lived there until college, and my parents lived there until about 8 years ago), I had never been to Lake Catherine. Not on the lake or the state park!

So, now that we enjoy hiking and exploring, I asked the family if everyone wanted to go hiking there while we were in town. Thankfully, they all agreed.

It was the world’s slowest hike with Remi- it took us 2 hours to go 2 miles because she wanted to stop a lot (throw rocks, sit or lay down, play, or she would fall and have to be calmed down)….but it was a GORGEOUS trail.

It was moderate, and around 1.6 miles (but a bit more since we ventured to the bottom of the falls and out to the lake).

The weather was a bit cool, but there was no wind and some sun, so it felt GREAT.

Remi LOVED these big rocks after we made the first big climb.

Tyler hung with us to help with Remi, but Gavin, Luke and Dwayne went ahead. They were tired of waiting.

Remi “took a rest” whenever she had the chance. HA! She was a trooper though!

We went around the trail in such a way that we came to the falls at the very end (you could also walk like .3 miles from the trailhead to the falls first….but we wanted them to be the payoff at the end). They were BEAUTIFUL.

Remi loves to send “boats” (aka sticks) into the water.

Love my people and going on adventures with them!

Mom and I went exploring at the bottom of the falls, too.

All of our people except Dwayne (who was stuck on the other side of a water crossing because he didn’t want to get his shoes wet).

At the end of the trail, we found Remi’s favorite thing: a suspension bridge. She ran up and back (with it swinging) like 10 times. She loved it.

It was a fun family adventure!
