Ok, so we are officially 10 days into my “lose 10 pounds before NYC” attempt.  If the weight loss were evenly spread out, I should have lost at least 1 pound by now.  I weighed myself this morning and was disappointed.  No loss.  In fact, some weight gain (likely water weight…my water tracker on the scale showed more water weight than usual).  I was bummed.  For 2 weeks now, I have been tracking religiously, and busting my butt at the gym.  For two weeks, I have done extra workouts and extra work.  In fact, this past week, yesterday was my only rest day.

Monday- water aerobics
Tuesday- Zumba x2
Wednesday- Zumba
Thursday- Zumba x2
Friday- swimming
Saturday- 2 cardio classes and a toning class

For what?  NOTHING.  I was bummed.  Then in the car this morning, The Message on XM said this:

If you haven’t quit, you haven’t failed.

Then, a blog I read posted about accepting yourself even if you haven’t met your goals.

I totally know that I could be holding extra water from upping my workouts, from eating salt this weekend, from any number of reasons.  The logical side knows this is normal and ok.  However, the side of me that is busting my butt to reach my goals doesn’t like it.

I am not looking for sympathy, really.  I don’t know why I’m posting this other than to remember the reality of how I am feeling.  I am sticking with it…but I have to feel these feelings and get through the valleys.  Hoping for a change soon!

  1. What type of scale are you using? I didn’t know there were scales with water trackers on them — how cool! And you will lose the weight! Sometimes the feeling of being bummed can be the best motivation we need. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • It is a Weight Watchers scale from Bed Bath and Beyond. Nothing too fancy. It tracks water weight, muscle weight and some other metrics. However, I have often wondered how accurate it is. Not sure. Sometimes I think my scale must be broken! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. My goodness you’re an inspiration! You go girl!

    • Thanks April! It is funny that you left this comment because when I wrote the post I felt totally un-inspirational because I haven’t lost any weight…but you helped me see it is about the effort and dedication, not always the results! Thanks!

  3. You can do it! I’m impressed with your work out schedule! I need to get on a better work out schedule! I love the inspirational quote. I could use that for teaching!

    • Alana- usually my workouts are Zumba plus one each week…but since I’m trying to bust my butt and lose this weight, every day I’m trying to get something in. I LOVED that quote too. Very true. Glad you can use it too!

  4. you are doing great brittney!!! you can do it!!! and how cool to have a scale that tracks your water weight!! my sis Carah came to Zumba with me today!!!

    • I am glad Carah came to Zumba! Ya’ll are gonna have to come back to my class sometime! It is MUCH different from when you first came and there was nobody there! ๐Ÿ™‚ I took some measurements last night, too…so I will have something besides the scale to track progress. Thanks girl!

  5. ps. have you been tracking your inches lost??
