What a great night!

So last night we went and did tuxes. It was easy and painless. We went with the burgundy for the guys, I know you were all so concerned with which color we were going to use.

Then afterwards, there was a long line at BWW, and I had heard about the great sushi at Kobe, a place that was really close to where we were, so we decided to try that.

And OH MY GOODNESS it was sooooooooooooooooooo good. We had a firecracker roll that had spicy tuna, cream cheese, jalepeno, and some other yummies in it…then it was fried. The frying is what does it for sushi for me. It makes it hot and crunchy. It was so wonderful.

The other roll we had was an eel roll. We got eel by accident once (we marked the wrong line on a sushi menu) and then we loved it! This eel was fried and placed on top of a california roll. It had the most amazing spicy sauce on top of it.

Yum, yum, yum. I didn’t take any pictures of our sushi… but the fried roll looked kinda like this one.

Then we came home and sat and talked and laughed and just had the best time together. I love that boy.

Today, we are going to go grocery shopping. They are calling for more snow (boo!) and I need a couple things in case I get trapped at home.

Then….we are making some goodies and watching the superbowl! Go Saints! We have a bet going that the loser has to plan and pay for Valentine’s Day. If I lose, I might just pick sushi again next weekend! haha

So the day has finally come.

We are going to pick out the tuxes for our wedding. Tyler has been avoiding this task like the plague. So you know what I did…I called, I made the appointment, and I told him, “We are going to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings (his favorite place..which happens to be next door to the tux shop) Saturday night” He got so excited. Then I said, “Yeah, right after we get tuxes next door at Mr. Tux.”

I’m sneaky.

I know what Tyler wants to get. He wants to wear all black with a white tie. I’m a fan of this look, and frankly, I got to pick out my dress…so he gets to pick out his ensemble.

For the groomsmen, we aren’t sure if they will wear the pink or the burgundy. I made a little mockup from David’s Bridal. The girls are wearing what our girls will wear…but the boys will either be in pink or burgundy. What do you think?

Youtube Beauty

Kelly’s Korner is hosting Show Us Your Life today is all about Makeup and Beauty tips. I hope you find these helpful!

Well, I’ve always been pretty good at doing my own makeup and hair. I guess its from years of performing and doing stage makeup. But when I do want a beauty boost, I turn to youtube.

I learn by seeing….so I like to watch videos to learn. There are lots of youtube people who just do beauty tutorials. Here are a few of my favorites.

For smoky eyes…

I just LOVE this tutuorial. Its for that sexy curled hair that all the celebs do. She does it with a straight iron! I am going to try this on my whole head soon!

And a last one about how to contour your makeup to make your face look thinner and your cheek bones stand out! Fabulous!

Veggie Au Gratin

So I saw The Barefoot Contessa cook a recipe today. It was for eggplant au gratin. I had everything in my fridge except the eggplant, but I had some squash and onions. So I decided to do that for dinner.

I didn’t bother looking up the recipe, so the exacts may be a little off. But it was FABULOUS!
(and bonus, I got to use my mandolin to slice all the veggies!)

-1 yellow squash, 1 zucchinni, 1 red onion sliced (I think you could use anything from potatoes, eggplant, any root or squash really…)
-1 egg
-1/2 cup ricotta cheese
-1/4 cup half and half or cream
-1/2 cup parmesean cheese grated
-1/4 cup marinara sauce
-salt and pepper

1. Sautee the veggies till almost done.

2.Mix the egg, ricotta, half and half and HALF of the parmesean.

3. Put a layer of the veggies in the bottom of a baking dish. Spread the marina on this layer. (Barefoot Contessa used individual ramekins for this…but I did one big baking dish. Whatever. I’m a rebel.)

4.Put on the rest of the veggies. Pour the ricotta mixture over it and shake the baking dish to make sure the sauce goes all the way down.

5. Sprinkle with the rest of the parmesean cheese.

6. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until browned.

ENJOY! Ty really liked this! I hope you do too!
