Girl Time

These ladies are such a blessing to my heart. Beth, (me), Kayla and Hannah. We were all Tri Chi pledge sisters…and now that we all live up here together, we get together every so often. Well tonight was one of those awesome nights.

We started out at Hugo’s for burgers and friends. No chick food for us. We scarfed down some big yummy burgers (Guacamole Burger is A-MAZ-ING) and then we wanted something sweet.

We originally planned to get some cupcakes at a new place on the square, but we didn’t just want to grab a goodie then leave, so we went to Common Grounds for dessert.

This was what I had. It was a triple threat cheesecake. It was a butterscotch/caramel, chocolate and regular cheesecake. Yum.

Kayla had this apple pie…with the MOST whipped cream. She saw it and said “A dollop would have sufficed!” haha

Then the funniest moment was as we were paying…we all had matching debit cards! (Don’t worry….I blurred out our numbers!)

I sure do crave girl time. Though I’m making new friends at grad school, its just not the same as the girls you have known for years and share so much with. I love these ladies. We said we would plan to do this more often, and I sure do hope so! My heart is happy.

Valentine’s Memories

Well, Tyler and I have been together for two Valentine’s days before and they have both been so memorable. But, last year’s was particularly memorable for me.

I thought that sometime in my last semester at OBU (last Jan-May) we would get engaged. We had talked about getting married, looked a rings a couple times, and I just knew it had to be coming.

We were doing the long distance thing, and so weekends were special, and I knew Valentine’s would be just as special.

Tyler kept telling me to bring a fancy dress and be ready for an exciting night. I got so excited.

I got my hair cut, I got my nails done. I freaked out about dresses. I went shopping at the few stores little Arkadelphia has, only to get a dress from home.

I went to Fort Smith and was just so excited about whatever our plans might be. He kept them secret.

We got ready Saturday night, and went to a nice restaurant. I was so thrilled. We had great laughs and talks while we waited, had a great dinner, then we went out on the patio to look at the river and the lights. “This is it” I kept thinking. WRONG. We watched the lights, then we went to a movie. Night over.

It was a great night. Great food, great laughs, great movie (we saw Confessions of a Shopaholic…he bought the tickets in advance so I could see it!). But I went home with a naked ring finger.

He got my hopes up several times before we actually got engaged, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m such a secret-spoiler that I’m glad I didn’t guess when it was happening. But when I left for V-day last year, I would have bet you good money I was coming home with a ring!

Us last Valentine’s Day…

This year, I’m not sure what we are doing. Our superbowl bet was that the loser got to plan and pay for V-day…and he lost. If I had to guess it would involve that delicious sushi we had last weekend. But I’ll let you know!

What a great night!

So last night we went and did tuxes. It was easy and painless. We went with the burgundy for the guys, I know you were all so concerned with which color we were going to use.

Then afterwards, there was a long line at BWW, and I had heard about the great sushi at Kobe, a place that was really close to where we were, so we decided to try that.

And OH MY GOODNESS it was sooooooooooooooooooo good. We had a firecracker roll that had spicy tuna, cream cheese, jalepeno, and some other yummies in it…then it was fried. The frying is what does it for sushi for me. It makes it hot and crunchy. It was so wonderful.

The other roll we had was an eel roll. We got eel by accident once (we marked the wrong line on a sushi menu) and then we loved it! This eel was fried and placed on top of a california roll. It had the most amazing spicy sauce on top of it.

Yum, yum, yum. I didn’t take any pictures of our sushi… but the fried roll looked kinda like this one.

Then we came home and sat and talked and laughed and just had the best time together. I love that boy.

Today, we are going to go grocery shopping. They are calling for more snow (boo!) and I need a couple things in case I get trapped at home.

Then….we are making some goodies and watching the superbowl! Go Saints! We have a bet going that the loser has to plan and pay for Valentine’s Day. If I lose, I might just pick sushi again next weekend! haha

So the day has finally come.

We are going to pick out the tuxes for our wedding. Tyler has been avoiding this task like the plague. So you know what I did…I called, I made the appointment, and I told him, “We are going to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings (his favorite place..which happens to be next door to the tux shop) Saturday night” He got so excited. Then I said, “Yeah, right after we get tuxes next door at Mr. Tux.”

I’m sneaky.

I know what Tyler wants to get. He wants to wear all black with a white tie. I’m a fan of this look, and frankly, I got to pick out my dress…so he gets to pick out his ensemble.

For the groomsmen, we aren’t sure if they will wear the pink or the burgundy. I made a little mockup from David’s Bridal. The girls are wearing what our girls will wear…but the boys will either be in pink or burgundy. What do you think?

*Disclaimer. the people look creepy kinda. I’m sorry. They are computer-generated people*
