Youtube Beauty

Kelly’s Korner is hosting Show Us Your Life today is all about Makeup and Beauty tips. I hope you find these helpful!

Well, I’ve always been pretty good at doing my own makeup and hair. I guess its from years of performing and doing stage makeup. But when I do want a beauty boost, I turn to youtube.

I learn by seeing….so I like to watch videos to learn. There are lots of youtube people who just do beauty tutorials. Here are a few of my favorites.

For smoky eyes…

I just LOVE this tutuorial. Its for that sexy curled hair that all the celebs do. She does it with a straight iron! I am going to try this on my whole head soon!

And a last one about how to contour your makeup to make your face look thinner and your cheek bones stand out! Fabulous!

Veggie Au Gratin

So I saw The Barefoot Contessa cook a recipe today. It was for eggplant au gratin. I had everything in my fridge except the eggplant, but I had some squash and onions. So I decided to do that for dinner.

I didn’t bother looking up the recipe, so the exacts may be a little off. But it was FABULOUS!
(and bonus, I got to use my mandolin to slice all the veggies!)

-1 yellow squash, 1 zucchinni, 1 red onion sliced (I think you could use anything from potatoes, eggplant, any root or squash really…)
-1 egg
-1/2 cup ricotta cheese
-1/4 cup half and half or cream
-1/2 cup parmesean cheese grated
-1/4 cup marinara sauce
-salt and pepper

1. Sautee the veggies till almost done.

2.Mix the egg, ricotta, half and half and HALF of the parmesean.

3. Put a layer of the veggies in the bottom of a baking dish. Spread the marina on this layer. (Barefoot Contessa used individual ramekins for this…but I did one big baking dish. Whatever. I’m a rebel.)

4.Put on the rest of the veggies. Pour the ricotta mixture over it and shake the baking dish to make sure the sauce goes all the way down.

5. Sprinkle with the rest of the parmesean cheese.

6. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until browned.

ENJOY! Ty really liked this! I hope you do too!

I bought a gift off my own wedding registry!

Well, we got some cash and a check for a gift at a shower. I had told Tyler that I would put it on a Walmart gift card and he could buy “man things” for our home. Well, today I REALLY wanted to make some sweet potato chips, but I couldn’t without a mandolin to evenly cut the potatoes.

So I printed off a 20% coupon and took the cash and headed to Bed Bath and Beyond. I bought a mandolin. http://
But the funny part was, to take it off my registry, I had to have them print it out and everything! So I went in, printed my own registry, and bought something off of it! haha

But I made some sweet potato chips. They are yummy. I have some tweaking to do to the recipe as far as cooking time and technique. Once I get that down, I’ll share it.

My mom is gonna kill me…

But I’m going to show you just one face shot from my bridal portraits. I am so in love with these pictures (which sounds so ego-maniacal because they are all of me! but I am just so excited to be a bride) so here is a sneak peek…Braeden Rogers of Ambient 11 Photography is amazing.
