So I’ve been getting some CRAZY email advertisements for food stuff. In the vein of being healthy and avoiding these food traps, I’ll be outlining a few of these here on the blog. I don’t know how regularly or how long I can do this series…but I want to share with you that these “great deals” they email about are not typically a good idea.
Now, I believe in “everything in moderation” so if you want a splurge, go for it. But, if you think you’re ordering one of these specials just because it’s a good price, then beware!
This is another one from Logan’s Roadhouse.
A 14 oz. steak, salad and side.
What? A 14 oz. steak? Who needs all of that? A serving size is 3-4 oz. of beef.
So let’s break this one down:
- 14 oz. of steak at 51 calories an ounce (based on nutrition data for Kansas City Strip Steak): 714 calories
- Loaded baked potato: around 350 calories
- Salad with ranch: 240 calories (based on MyFitnessPal)
- 1 roll (Because who doesn’t eat a roll?!): 227
For a total of 1315 calories!!
If you split this meal, it wouldn’t be so bad…but holy cow, no one needs 14 ounces of steak!
