Trout Fishing on the White River

Trout Fishing on the White River

We went to the White River to go trout fishing. Tyler had been a couple of times before and he enjoyed it, so I wanted to go with him. And in Arkansas, really in this region, you can’t beat the White River for trout fishing. There are towns spread along it that are basically nothing but cafes, cabins and fishing guides.

We booked a guide through our cabin, but it was Fletchers Outdoor Adventures, a super nice guy named Adam. He was patient with teaching me about fly fishing, and helped Tyler learn how to do it from a boat (he had only fly fished from a bank and it’s different).

We started early with the fog heavy on the water. The water is flowing FAST and it was COLD.

We spotted an eagle nest (and if you look closely, an eagle!) on the river.

But pretty quickly, Tyler got the first bite!

We fished ALL day – 8 hours (with just a 30 minute lunch back at the cabin) and we both caught tons of fish.

At the end of the day, Adam drove us down to the dam to see it from the water. It was HUGE. At the dam, you just trophy fish, so we didn’t catch anything (those big fish are hard to catch), but it was fun to see!

And then there’s Tyler being Tyler. ha!

After fishing, we decided to go back and eat Mexican food again, and then we got ice cream. It was just a fantastic day!
