Weekend Recap: Date Night at VoiceJam

Weekend Recap: Date Night at VoiceJam

We had a great weekend.

I could definitely tell the second trimester energy creeping back in! Woohoo!

Friday after work, Tyler was working late so mom and I went to get mani/pedis. A great start to the weekend. Also, the first time my nails were long enough to be cut at the nail salon! Hey prenatals and nail growth!

Tyler and I spent the evening at home. We cooked dinner and watched Concussion. Dog + blanket+ couch= happy.  Also, first time I’ve stayed awake for a movie in about 10 weeks.

Saturday I did a LOT of cleaning at home (after sleeping until 9:15! hey-o!) and then once Tyler got off work, we headed to NWA for a date night.

First stop was sushi. I talk a LOT about Kobe sushi, but I often forget to take a picture. We got some friend rolls (with fully cooked ingredients, don’t worry!) for me…and a raw roll for Tyler.

This is my FAVORITE roll.  It’s a Firecracker. Fried shrimp, crab, cream cheese, and jalepeno- all deep fried. YUM.

Tyler’s raw roll had tuna on top (how I miss you, real sushi!), and we also got a surf and turf roll with spicy crab and steak on top.

After dinner we did a little shopping at Cabela’s and then headed to the Walton Arts Center for the VoiceJam. We went last year and it was great so we came back again. VoiceJam is an acapella festival and competition- so there were 9 groups from across the world.

The awards presentation shows how many people were there competing. The group that won (very deservedly so) was from Taiwan. They were all great.

They didn’t sing this song, but here’s a video I found online of them. We decided the smaller groups are more impressive since they do with 6 people what the larger groups do with 25+. Also, they are high schoolers. Yeah.

We didn’t get home until 1 a.m. and I drove home. HEY ENERGY HEY. I didn’t nap and stayed awake until 1 a.m.

Sunday was church and a BEAUTIFUL (sideways) sunrise off the back porch.

So that was the weekend.

How was your weekend?

  1. That firecracker roll looks/sounds amaaazing!!! I’m not into raw sushi, but I can get behind pretty much anything deep fried!!! 😉 That acapella competition sounds awesome, too!
