Weekend Recap: Downtown and the Lake

Weekend Recap: Downtown and the Lake

My aunt, uncle and cousins were here all weekend.  They came up to celebrate Caitlyn’s 14th birthday.  WHEN did that little girl get to be 14 years old?!  Man, I’m old!  Anyway…we had a fun time.

Saturday morning, we all headed downtown to the Farmer’s Market.  Gavin and I did some veggie shopping.  He was so fun asking me what everything was, and how you would cook it.

Then we ate breakfast at the Boomerang- an old train car that’s now a restaurant!

After breakfast, we hit up the Park at West End to ride the Ferris Wheel!  It was built in 1916, and was quite a fun ride for only $1!

The view from the top!

Gavin and Luke wanted to ride the carousel instead…so they bounced up and down on the vintage horses.

We went home and rested for the afternoon, then we swam a bit and BBQed at mom’s.  I love to watch the kiddos play together.  So sweet.

Saturday night, we went back to our house and shot off fireworks!  Of course, we had to have sparklers!

Sunday, we took Gram to church while the family helped mom with yardwork.  After lunch, we all went to the lake and Tyler pulled them in the boat. Lots of fun!

I got WAY too much sun this weekend between being outside for the 4th and being at the lake twice.  But it was fun! I love the family being here, but man does it wear me out to go-go-go all weekend! ha!

How was your weekend?  Did you shoot off any fireworks/do sparklers?  It’s a must for us on the weekend of the 4th!
