Weekend Recap: Low Key and Tyler’s Birthday

Thank the good Lord we had a low key weekend! I sure needed one after being on the run for weeks on end!
Thursday was my sweet Tyler’s birthday….so we celebrated all weekend long!  Friday evening, we grilled some steaks (and I made some KILLER hashbrown casserole!) and had some birthday cheesecake (our local grocery store makes AMAZING cheesecake, and you can buy a package of 4 slices – which was perfect for the 4 of us – Tyler, me, and his parents).
Happy birthday boy!  The big 28!
I also stopped by Target and got some Phillip Lim goodies!  LOVE this mustard and navy leopard dress.  It’s a little loud, but I’m loud. So it works.  I also LOVE this black box purse.
Saturday was awesome.  I relaxed, did some cleaning, took a nap, hit up a local boutique for some goodies, and then ended the evening at the RC track cheering on Tyler.  They are doing a series race, and he is doing great.  They have 2 weeks left in the series.
Sunday, we did church and then headed to Ty’s grandpas.  We had a BBQ/potluck with the fam.  I made an AMAZING triple layer chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream and chocolate pb ganache.  He enjoyed it.  And so did everyone else.  Grandpa ate like 4 slices before the day was done!
It was also fun because my family was there too!  We got Gram out on the Razor (she kept saying “Slow down!!” and dad on the 4 wheeler.  He didn’t like going fast, and when they switched to let him drive, I thought they ran out of gas because they were driving so slow! ha!

Then I spent the evening updating my iPhone to iOS7.  After some technical difficulty, it’s finally all working.  I had to do a reset, so I lost all my settings.  Ugh.  At least I have a phone that works, right? 🙂
I hope you had a great weekend! I feel recharged and ready to go!

  1. The cake you made him looked and sounded amazing!!! Don’t you just love weekends? I wish they lasted longer!

  2. I laughed at so many points in this post. The I’m loud so it works lol! And when you thought they were out of gas. hehe. It’s the little things!
