Weekend Recap

Pretty laid back, restful weekend.  Can’t complain about that!

Friday, I met my friend Kristan for lunch.  It was so fun to chat and catch up.  She is a food blogger, and she brought me some of her brownie truffles.  They were SOO good and worth every calorie.

Friday after work, I hit up the gym for some swimming.  I did this last week too and I LOVED the relaxed workout.  I swam for about 45 minutes.  Just some easy laps.  Then I spent some time in the hot tub and sauna and got ready for date night!  We tried out Green Papaya (part of one of my goals for my 30 Before 30 list!!).  We had never had Vietnamese food…and they had a HUGE menu, so we didn’t know what to get. We tried the fresh shrimp spring rolls (which weren’t really our thing..), some sweet and sour soup that was DELISH, and some fried rice and a garlic pork dish.  Besides the spring rolls, we LOVED it.  BEST fried rice I have ever had.  We will be back there, for sure!

Top: From Green Papaya in Fort Smith- shrimp spring roll (A2 on the menu-called Goi Cuon Tom) , shrimp sweet and sour soup (19 Canh Chua), (back) garlic pork with noodles (15 Bum Tom Thit Nuong) , and (front) combination fried rice (24 Com Chien Bac Biet).  We loved everything but the spring rolls.  The texture of the wrapper was weird.  I am sure they made it well, the dish jnust wasn’t for us. However, their egg rols (one came with the entree) was REALLY good.

Saturday, I got up and went to the gym for some Cardio Dance and a toning class (I’m so sore from the toning class! I love that feeling!) then I picked up some Subway and met Candyce at the lake.  She is a Zumba instructor in town and besides Zumba events, we hadn’t really ever hung out…so it was so fun to lay out and talk and gossip and laugh. 🙂 Isn’t that what women always do together?

We meant to lay out for 1-2 hours max…and accidentally were out for 3.5 hours! Hello sunburn!
Tyler raced his RC cars Saturday night, and I was in pain (muscles from my workout and skin from my sunburn), so I chilled at home watching some DVR’d Olympic Trials.  Swimming, track, and Gymnastics. 🙂  I also slept quite a bit.  I think I went to sleep around 8:30!

Sunday morning, I woke up semi-early for church, so I made myself an iced coffee.  Just too hot for hot coffee.

I wore my patriotic outfit to church!  LOVE my new bubble necklace!

We ate lunch at Geno’s (yummy salad bar!), came home and napped.  Then Tyler’s uncle called and wanted Tyler to ride to Conway (about 2.5-3 hours away) with him to pick up a motorcycle that Dwight wanted to buy.  So Tyler left Mikey and me.  I spent Sunday evening cleaning, watching TV, and then I went for a walk at the park after the sun went down.  So nice.  This weekend wasn’t jam packed, but it was really nice to not do too much.

What are you doing for the 4th?  We don’t really have any plans…

Comments

  1. Love that bubble necklace. I want to order one on ebay but coming from China kind of worries me??

I love watching the Olympic trials too but everyone makes fun of me for it!

We don’t really have plans for the 4th either. Just church. We’re going to watch our hometown fireworks on the 3rd. Too bad it’s so dry because usually we shoot fireworks with our neighbors. Kind of ruins the fun this year!

    • Don’t worry about the necklace coming from China! I ordered mine from there as well & good it in just a few weeks! =) Can’t beat $14.99 either with FREE shipping! 😛

    • I would advise choosing a seller with more than 10 sales and good feedback (95% or better). I have ordered lots of stuff from overseas and just try to choose reputable sellers. I bought mine from seller sworz_rad and had no issues.

  2. Oooooh, we love green papaya! It’s like 5 minutes from our house and if we need an easy dinner, we’ll call and get fried rice and bring it home. Yum! Glad you had a good weekend! 🙂

  3. Sounds like a perfect weekend to ME! Be sure & check that off your 30 before 30 list! 😉 I’m working on mine b/c of YOU & hopefully can share it soon! =)

Weekend Recap

My weekend got off to a running start Friday after work!
Momma came up and met me right as I was getting off work.  We headed up the hill to Fayetteville!  We did a little shopping at my favorite boutique there, RiffRaff (got the CUTEST chevron tunic and also a chevron cuff and mom got some goodies too!), and then hit up Bliss Cupcakes for mom to get some cupcakes for Nene’s birthday.  We had dinner at Jason’s Deli, and had about 30 minutes to kill….so we hit up TJ Maxx where I got a cute maxi dress, a jacket, a couple tops, and some dress pants!  After buzzing through TJ Maxx, we went to the Walton Arts Center to see In the Heights!
It was a FANTASTIC show!  Such fun energy and a great story!  Most definitely lived up to my high expectations for the show!
We drove home and were up too late talking and watching TV.
Saturday, we slept in, got ready and headed out.  We hit up the Fort Smith Antique Show!  It is a big show at the Expo center every other month with TONS of vendors.  We did find a couple awesome things!
A super cute sign made of old wood!
And we got a GREAT deal on some old Fiestaware!  An old rose bowl (there is old rose and new rose…I had some new rose but this is my first old rose piece!)
And a plate in dark green.  I am not sure which type of plate this is.  It is bigger than a lunch plate, but not as big as a dinner plate.  I got some research to do on this one!
Mom and I also hit up Inscriptions for some gifts for upcoming birthdays and then we had lunch at the park and walked around.  It was so nice outside!
After lunch and our walk, we got AMAZING massages.  So relaxing!  I am so blessed with a momma that spoils me!  A musical, shopping and massages!  It was so fun!
Mom left after her massage and Tyler and I just came home to relax all night.  We watched a movie, ate dinner, and just chilled at home.  It was a great Saturday night.
Today we went to church (where I wore this fierce fringe dress from Rue La La!  Got TONS of compliments on it!) and had lunch at Geno’s.
Then we came home and napped this rainy afternoon away.  Perfection!

A great weekend with the people I love!

Weekend Recap

Friday, we went to Cheddar’s to eat dinner because I was still in town from running errands.  My favorite stops yieled some AMAZING finds.  Charming Charlies (PTL it is open here in town!  I LOVE it!) produced some wonderful accessories and a cute shirt (I’ll try to remember to take pics at home later), and Dress Barn had their winter dresses on clearance.  I got 2 sweater dresses for a total of $34!  YEAH!
Then we came home and watched 127 hours.  A bit intense, but really really good.
Saturday, I went for a massage in the morning.  My lower back has really been hurting, and she did a great job working it out.  She also stretched me at the end and made me feel GREAT!  Then I ran some more errands (Sam’s, Dollar Store, Walmart) and went home to get some stuff done.  I got ready and then we went on a double date with Brooke and Warren!
My outfit before the date.  New shirt from Old Navy!  Matched my red boots perfectly! 🙂
We ate at Papa’s Pub downtown.  We split two HUGE pizzas.  Warren and Tyler devoured their pizza and they took home what was left of mine and Brooke’s pizza.
Our sweet friends and the HUGE pizza.
After dinner, we decided to grab dessert at a local diner.  We all had a slice of pie (and each had different kinds!) and sat and talked and laughed for a good while.  I just love these great friends!
Sunday, we went to church where I heard a GREAT message on pride.  Bro. Ronnie explained that the basis of pride is forgetting God.  Pride, at its root, is just forgetting God and that HE is all powerful, and the King.  We become prideful in ourselves when we forget that God is the reason behind our blessings and our successes.  Lots to think and pray about.
After church, we ran to Nancy’s (my MIL) to pick up guns.  Yes, guns.  Tyler and Warren had a shooting date Sunday afternoon.  After getting Tyler’s gun collection from my MIL’s, we stopped at Walmart to get ammo. I also got some crackers and orange juice as I wasn’t feeling so hot.  The boys went to shoot their guns (they shot birds in our barn, snakes at a neighbor’s creek, and then targets)…and I napped.
I chugged orange juice and napped.  I am feeling much better today.  Hope its just a little cold that will go away as quickly as it came.
Hope you had a great weekend! 🙂

Weekend Recap

First off, let me start by recapping something that happened LAST weekend (i.e. New Year’s Eve.)
We ate dinner out at Maravella’s and had GREAT Mexican food (and looked hott doing it).  We were gonna stay for their NYE party, but we were so full feeling that we went home and crashed on the couch. 🙂  Happy New Years to us!
This weekend, Friday evening we hung out at home watching the Cotton Bowl!  So excited that my Razorbacks won!  I also made some yummy sloppy joe soup that I’ll be blogging about soon!
Saturday I ran some errands, sold some clothes to Plato’s Closet (hello $50!), and then went to the wedding of one of my Tri Chi lil sisses, Jenna!
Alden (my BFF/Tri Chi lil sis) went together and it was so great to catch up with friends and celebrate with Jenna and Chris!
Me, Alden and Jessie being silly before the Tri Chi wedding song!
This was just part of our TC family that was present at the wedding! Me (PC 06), Alden (my little), Jessie (Alden’s Little), Jenna (Jessie’s little), then we have Hayley and Ashley (not sure where they fit in because I was gone…but they are sweet little sisses!)
Saturday evening we had dinner at Maria’s (the BEST Mexican food with the WORST service ever…but we go back b/c the food is so good!) and then came home and hung out.
Sunday, mom and dad drove up to go to church, have lunch, and look at property.  Mom and Dad eventually want to move up here to Fort Smith, and they were looking at some land on Sebastian Lake.  The selfish side of me says “Buy it Mom and Dad!”  so I can have the lake access this summer (its a private lake open only to those who live on it).  They really liked the lot and the area, so chances are they will make that little slice of lake property their to build on someday.
Isn’t it pretty?
We cleaned and did some things around the house and had dinner last night…and we finished out our night watching Lie to Me on Netflix.  We live a riveting life, I know. 🙂
Last night at dinner, I made a version of twice-baked cauliflower (Thanks Pinterest!) and it was AMAZING.  Make it soon.  You won’t regret it.
Have a great Monday!

Weekend Recap!

We had a wonderful weekend that was a mix of busy and low key! I’ll recap our riveting weekend for you (I know you are dying to know.)
Friday after work I headed home to cook a delicious dinner.  Tyler came home and ate said dinner and won Best Husband of the Year.  He said to me “This is better than anything we could get at a restaurant.”  I made bison bacon balsamic burgers (quadruple b’s), homemade baked ranch sweet potato chips, and some green bean fries.  Then we watched a movie (Wall Street- Money Never Sleeps.  I give it a B+.  It was good, but the financial talk was a bit over my head.  My stock-market loving hubby loved it.)
Saturday, I got up and went and got my hair did.  It was a weird experience.  I went to Ulta.  I like the salon at Ulta.  It is reasonably priced, they use top of the line product, and appointments are not hard to come by.  The stylist gave me a great haircut, but her conversation was straight up weird.  She talked about her ex-boyfriend in Atlanta and how moving in with him made her the “cash cow” and how she moved back here with her family.  How her dad used to make meth when she was young and she is glad he didn’t blow their house up.  (What?!)  How she grew up in Vegas and met said ex-boyfriend “on the strip, doing what we do in Vegas, you know”  (No, I don’t know.  I’ve never been to Vegas.  And if I had, I don’t think I would be picking up random guys on the strip.).
That lovely experience was followed by a bit of Target and Kirkland’s shopping (where I bought an awesome double beverage dispenser (like this one)
and bought an Elf on the Shelf.  Yes, I know we don’t have kids yet.  But I wanted an elf of my very own.  I think this Christmas he will stay in his box…but I’m excited to own our very own elf.)
Then I stopped by Sonic on the way home.  Its a Sonic I never go to.  I spotted an antique store next door and went in to browse.  I didn’t find any Fiestaware that I HAD to have…but I got a couple things.  I bought a holiday Barbie ornament, a big Christmas punch bowl, and a snowmen advent calendar.  (Again, no major use for the advent calendar now, but it was a steal for such a cute homemade piece and we’ll use it someday!)  I was SUPER excited about the holiday Barbie ornament.  I collect holiday Barbies (I have every one ever made…still in the box in mint condition…all from 1986)…and this ornament was my favorite Barbie. She was the first brunette holiday Barbie and I remember LOVING her as a little girl.  Now she is hanging on my tree!
Saturday afternoon, I cleaned and watched football.  And we ate a yummy dinner (some roasted veggie lobster pasta with lemon parmesean sauce)….and we watched some Lie To Me.  We LOVE that show and seasons 1-3 are on Netflix streaming.
Sunday was our busy day.  We got up, went to church, ate lunch with Nancy, went grocery shopping, stopped by to FINALLY meet baby Myles
(and while I felt more comfortable holding a baby…which is a miracle…they freak me out!…I didn’t catch baby fever), we came home to do some more housework, got ready, saw the Christmas play at church, ate dinner, and came home and crashed.  I am so thankful for our church.  They put on A Christmas Carol Revisited.  It is a more Christ-focused spin on A Christmas Carol.  It took MANY people MANY long hours to put this production together and it was great!!  Such a wonderful reminder about the true holiday spirit!
I’m so thankful for Tyler.  He did some of the housework I couldn’t do…like dust the ceiling fans (I’m too short even on the ladder), helped me change the sheets, and went into the attic to change the air filter.  Warning to home owners: be sure to change your air filters!  We didn’t have a problem with them…but I know many people whose air conditioners/heaters quit working or broke because of clogged filters!

This morning, I drove to work in the falling snow!

I just kept laughing at the joy of falling snow!  I don’t look forward to bad, icy roads…but it sure is pretty coming down!  They aren’t expecting any real accumulation, but the snow and winter weather season is here!

Weekend Recap!

These pictures are not from this weekend, but from last weekend…I just never blogged them!  This was us at the Greenwood football game!  Go Bulldogs!
My work sponsored a little punt, pass, kick contest, so some work folks were there.  This is Alexis, me and Emily.
We had a little double date with our friends Brooke and Warren.  This photo is awkward because of the angle, but it documents that we were all there together! ha!
 So this weekend….
Friday night was low-key.  Just hanging out at home.  I DID cook a pretty kick butt steak and potato dinner.
Saturday, I cleaned and took a nap.  I was planning on just staying in Saturday evening and crafting (as Tyler was at the RC track), but thankfully, my bestie Alden was at home, so she called and asked if I wanted to go see the Lion King!  OF COURSE!  So we went to dinner, the movie, frozen yogurt after, then we stopped by the RC track to watch a race!
Sunday, we had church, then a fun baby shower for my sweet friend Jacque!  I was a hostess and made a bunch of s’mores cupcakes for the shower!  There were some delicious cupcakes there!  My s’mores, then we had snickers cupcakes, and cream cheese cupcakes!  YUM!
This was our cute little food table!  We did dark colors and antique sports stuff!
 All the cupcakes!
 Fruit, crackers, veggies and punch!
Over the gift table, I made this little banner that had the new baby’s name on it: Myles Aaron.  It was in blues and browns, like their bedding.  I think they are going to hang the sign in his nursery!
And this was the sweet momma before the shower!  YAY for friends having babies! Can’t wait to meet baby Myles!
A great weekend (even though the Razorbacks lost)!  Ready for a busy week!

Comments

  1. You did awesome at the shower yesterday! I hope it’s okay, I stole the picture of jacque so I could put it on my blog.

Weekend Recap

So I had a very busy weekend with the family! (MANY pictures to follow!)

It started Friday afternoon when my mom and cousins (Caitlyn, Gavin and Luke) got back from Branson! They met me after work and we ran to one of my fave boutiques, Solemates, and shopped for just a bit. I hated to drag the kids there, but they were having a 20% sale and I couldn’t miss it!

Then we ran to the mall to buy me some more ProActive (the best stuff!) and look in the Razorback store! The kids and myself all got some cool new Hog shirts!

Next we headed to their favorite: Chuck E. Cheese! We ate pizza and played games and had so much fun!

The boys are really becoming great buddies, which is so sweet!

Me and Princess Caitlyn got to put all our tickets in the ticket counter (my favorite machine!) (PS. Please excuse my end-of-the-day-nasty-makeup look)
After Chuck E. Cheese we went to Nancy’s (my MIL) to let the kids pet and ride her horse Dundee.

Dundee did so great being led with the kids on her! Caitlyn was so brave to go first! She had never been on a horse before and was quite nervous.
Next little man Luke (who turned 4 yesterday!) also rode. He loved it and made Nancy walk him 2-3 times around the field.
Gavin didn’t want to ride Dundee, but he did want to ride the 4-wheeler, so Nancy got that out and took all the kids for rides around the pasture.

We slept great, and then I made homemade donuts for breakfast!

I made these cake donuts with my mini-donut pan…and made a bunch of different icings and spread out toppings, so everyone could have what they wanted!

Chocolate icing, coconut icing, vanilla icing, and butter….and chocolate sprinkles, rainbow sprinkles, coconut and cinnamon sugar. The best ones were dipped in the butter and cinnamon sugar…with the coconut icing and coconut being a close second!

This little boy was excited!
Then we headed out to explore! We started in the Greenwood square at the little museum. The museum is in the old jail. The kids liked looking at the old Civil War stuff. (Its the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, so that’s what the exhibits were on!). They also have an old log cabin all set up, as well as an old barn. This is the log cabin.
They also have a little one room school house. The kids couldn’t believe people actually went to school like that with little benches to sit on, and everyone had little chalkboards, not paper! It was fun and educational!
We went next door to the antique store and I got some Fiestaware1 (I’ll show you that later). Then we headed to El Palenque for lunch.

This crazy boy would close his eyes as he ate, like he was savoring his food!
Then we trekked to Fort Smith to have ice cream at an old fashioned soda fountain at the Museum of History…and we also walked next door to the Historic Site and saw the old Fort Smith jail and courthouse, as well as infamous Judge Parker’s gallows. He was the hanging judge, and it was neat because they only put the noose out at the gallows on the anniversary of a hanging…and they had them out on Saturday. So we got to explain the history to the kids. Really neat.

Then we came home and rested for a bit before heading to my work’s summer family party!

There were inflatables (which one little boy LOVED!)
There was also a video game truck (from Games 2U) and mom and I danced with the Micheal Jackson Wii game.
And all the boys played a football game inside.
And they had a photo booth! Here is our photo! (Don’t know why its cropped funny like that?)
Such a fun weekend with the family! They left Sunday morning and Tyler and I tried out a Life Group (Sunday School class) at church. It was good. We are going to try it out for a few more weeks and see if it is a good fit for us.

Hope you all had a great weekend!
