Weekend Recap

We had a great weekend!  Mom and Gram came up Friday evening.  We ate tacos and laughed and talked.
Saturday, we were up bright and early to head to Fayetteville.  We did a little shopping (which Gram was THRILLED about!), ate lunch at HuHot (which Gram was THRILLED about!), and then we saw the Million Dollar Quartet!  It was a musical about Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis.  It was all music from Gram’s youth and she LOVED every second of it!  Since her fall, she has been having a hard time getting around and uses a wheelchair a lot.  But at the show, she stood up and boogied when Elvis sang at the end!  She loved it!
Saturday night, we came back to Fort Smith to eat dinner at R. Landry’s Cajun Cafe with Ty and Nancy. (excuse my shiny/day old makeup face….we came straight from Fayetteville…so my look was still “fresh” from early that morning!)

Empty dessert plates.  The food was sooooo good!  We all had yummy cajun fare and then split two desserts for the table!
Three generations.
Sunday, I woke up really early…so I finally finished this project!  It was super easy!  I bought this window at a thrift store for $9, sanded it, cleaned it, touched up the paint, glued a picture to the back, attached some hangers…and voila!  Awesome wall art!  (You can get photos printed any size from largeformatposters.com  I needed mine to be an odd shape (like 22.5 inches by 35.5 inches…) and they were able to print it exactly the right size and the photo quality is GREAT!)
After church (an AWESOME sermon on fear and faith that I will blog about later), we had lunch at Geno’s and then mom and Gram left to head home.  Tyler headed to the RC car track to drive his car…so I was home alone.
I put together my sewing table!  (the pic is really dark…for some reason my phone’s flash wasn’t working).
The table was quite a beast to assemble.  It had 168 pieces!  But I LOVE it!  I bought it from Walmart.com (it was only $109.  These are the tiny thumbnails from the website.   It is all contained with a shelving unit on the right…and then you open the two left doors and this leaf plops on top and you have a huge sewing surface and storage bins!  I LOVE it!
This was the mess from all that assembly (which I want to note I did by myself, with the exception of one piece that Tyler came to hold while I screwed it in…and then he screwed in those two screws because I was taking too long! ha!
When I was all done, I sat on the couch, and ended up falling asleep.  I really wanted to go to a talk at church last night, but I slept through when I needed to leave.  So instead, when I woke up, I sat on the porch and watched the sunset.  Beautiful!  I LOVE having a sunrise and sunset view from our house!
Hope you had a great weekend!  We did!

  1. I love your necklace in these pictures and how it pops with your pink top-so cute! Glad you had a good weekend! 🙂

    • Thanks! I had only worn that necklace once before (With a formal strapless dress on a cruise) and was kinda self-conscious about it all day! Thanks for the vote of confidence! I will wear it again!

  2. Looks like a great weekend!! I have not been to HuHot — how is the food?? Your sewing table is super cute and I love the window frame!

    • OMG HuHot is sooo good! It is a mongolian grill….so there is a raw food bar and lots of sauces, and you go through the line and build your bowl (meat, veggies, noodles, sauce). You make it just how you want it! And it is all you can eat, so if you make something you don’t like (or something you LOVE) you can go through the line as much as you want. Weekday lunch is cheapest…and then weekend lunch and then dinner in terms of prices. Give it a try during the week at lunch if you can to see if you enjoy it! We LOVE it!
