WILW: Preparing to Cruise Edition

So we are cruising in January. I can hardly wait!
I’ve been doing some cruise prep…and I’m so darn excited about the trip that I wanted to share some of the fun.
We are cruising out of New Orleans to Key West, Nassau, and Freeport Bahamas!  We will be in NOLA for a couple days, then cruise for a whole week!
First off, one of my favorite things on a cruise is formal night!  I LOVE dressing up.  While I tend to get overdressed for most of the nights (since I just enjoy dressing up), I love formal night!  I have been on the lookout for a dress…and I found on in Vegas at Forever 21 for only $22!!!!! So naturally, today I’m loving this new dress!
One-shoulder, deep purple, and super flattering!  It will look even better in 10 pounds! 🙂
Because of the color of the dress, I’m loving that Brad Goreski posted that purple is new hot color yesterday on his Twitter.
I’ve also been doing lots of searching for fun things in New Orleans and Key West.  In both Bahamas spots, we are snorkeling (we love to snorkel!).  But I’m pumped about eating yummy food in both those places.  Hello beignets, jambalaya and key lime pie! 🙂 I’m loving daydreaming about this yummy food!
I will NOT be dieting on this trip.  Beignets from Cafe Du Monde…

Jambalaya and stuffed potatos at Mulate’s
Key Lime Pie…I plan to eat several pieces during our day at Key West!
So a short and sweet WILW today.  I’m waiting on our great Vegas pics from my coworker to talk about the trip…so be patient loves. 🙂

Comments

  1. Love that dress!

  2. My husband and I just got back from Key West and we had the best time!! Word of advice would be to rent a bike or scooter for the day. Even though the island is small ( 2miles x 4 miles), we found that having transportation made it more fun. We were able to see ALL of the island instead of just the main tourist area.

    • That is great advice! I know my husband wants to do a scooter…but I heard parking a scooter can be iffy there. Any advice on that? Is the island flat to make bike riding easy? You are the first person I know who has been there…I’m glad you spoke up! 🙂

    • Parking is iffy for sure. Limited spaces and some you have to pay for. One of the days we were there we rented a bicycle and it was definitely an easy ride. All flat 🙂 Now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure I didn’t see one hill! Be sure to check out the Shipwreck Museum as well. That was my favorite museum/tour.

  3. I love that dress! You will look amazing wearing it!

Can you please convince my hubby to take me on a cruise? Hint: Alaska

And lastly, I would wrestle you for a beignet and Cafe Aulait from Cafe Du Monde! One of my favorite childhood places when we lived in Louisiana! Have so much fun!!!

    • I would be more than happy to convince him! Tyler wasn’t sold until he went on his first cruise. We just did a short little 4 day-er and he loved it. I think an Alaskan cruise would be AWESOME! We have only ever done the Carribbean and Mexico. I think this will be my fifth cruise? I love them.

  4. oh that sounds like so much fun…super jealous about the beignets!!! yummy!!!!! hope you guys have a blast!!! eat a Po’ Boy for me please!! the best ones are in New Orleans!!

  5. I nominated you for an award. Check out my blog for details – http://www.hookedfromhello.blogspot.com
